Yamaha PH launches new Sniper 155 and 155R
MANILA: Yamaha Motor Philippines, Inc. has officially launched the latest edition of the Yamaha Sniper, which combines racing excellence, metropolitan ingenuity, and superior ride control. The new Sniper 155 and Sniper 155R enable greater acceleration and lighter handling.
The newest edition of the Sniper was unveiled on Yamaha’s digital platform, the Yamaha Stadium. The program was presented on a virtual sports news-inspired hub which provided details about the new product, including its design and concept.
The Sniper is best known for its versatility as it offers constant excellence on both racetracks and city streets. The new Sniper 155 was crafted to carry the Yamaha Racing DNA, with an aerodynamic feel and compact design. The modern design exhibits the motorcycle’s powerful and dynamic movement within the mass forward silhouette with its short and upward rear end. The motorcycle is also designed to provide a riding posture that appears similar to a super sports bike. The new Sniper 155 is ideal for riders who are searching for a high-performance ride with latest technological advancements.
The Sniper is powered by an upgraded liquid-cooled 155-cc SOHC four-valve fuel-injected engine paired to a six-speed transmission. It also comes with variable valve actuation (VVA), assist and slipper clutch (A&S), and individual ignition timing maps. The maps switch when the VVA system is active or inactive and separate maps are provided for low speeds and high speeds. This makes the engine easy to use when in gear at low speeds, but also generates lasting pull at higher speeds.
The new Sniper 155R comes with additional features that are useful for city rides. To achieve a fast paced and comfortable ride, the Sniper 155R is engineered to provide high performance while showcasing advanced innovation, and stylish design.
Professional racecar driver Marlon Stockinger got a chance to test out the new Sniper 155R and share his experience with the viewers. Some of the features that the Sniper 155R share with the standard variant are a fuel tank capacity of 5.4 liters, an LCD instrument panel, and the low LED beam headlight.
Exclusive features on the Sniper 155R include a smart key system, front brake with two-pot caliper, a 12V power socket, and the sports-style seat.
During the virtual event, Yamaha Racing Philippines Manager Jordan Cornista and Team Philippines racer Masato Fernando also shared how they are preparing for future racing campaigns. It was also revealed the McKinley Kyle Paz, the mystery rider who tested the new Sniper 155 on the Carmona Racetrack, will be the first Filipino to participate in the FIM CEV Repsol – Moto2 Category under VR46 Junior Team. After competing in both local and international races with the Sniper 150, Paz became the first Filipino to become a part of the highly exclusive VR46. He was also the overall champion in the 150UB Category of the Asia Road Racing Championship.
The new Sniper 155 is available in three color variants: Race Blu, Yellow Hornet, and Black Raven. It is priced at P114,900.
