Yamaha PH Racing Team clinches 1st-place victory in China

BEIJING: The Yamaha Philippines Racing Team has clinched a podium finish at the recently held UB150 class of the Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) leg held at the Zhuhai International Circuit, China. 

According to Yamaha Motor Philippines, Filipino race rider Gian Carl Mauricio — who finished first in his category — entered race day in fifth place. The team was optimistic of his chances in Race 1 and was not disappointed when “The Flash” ended leading the pack in the final laps seemingly unchallenged in the last corners. 

The said feat counts as a first for both Mauricio and the Yamaha Philippines Racing Team as a first place victory has eluded the former who has been competing in ARRC for three seasons now. 

Mauricio’s teammate, April King Mascardo, finished in 11th place. 

On the other hand, McKinley Kyle Paz finished seventh in the SS600 category. 

“The Yamaha Philippines Racing Team received a warm welcome upon their arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport where they held their post-race press conference,” the local arm of the motorcycle brand wrote in a press release. 

“The team will be preparing for round 3 of the ARRC and hope to keep their winning streak alive at the Mobility Resort in Motegi, Japan on June 7-9,” it added. 

Yamaha PH Race Team previous wins 

Last March, the Yamaha Philippines Racing Team also secured podium finishes in Thailand. 

Mascardo was able to finish third in his class. Likewise, Paz also finished third in the SS600 category, which took place at the Chang International Circuit.
