Yamaha YZF-R125 sports bike introduced in the EU
MANILA: Yamaha is well-reputed for making small displacement motorcycles with outstanding performance. Recently unleashing a new beast, the 2019 Yamaha YZF-R125, it targets the young riders and lures them with perfect sporty features.
LED lighting adorns the body of R125, including the headlamp styling mirroring the Yamaha YZF-R25/R3. In the cockpit, a monochrome LCD panel displays all the necessary riding information which includes the gear position and shift light. Its dynamic look is sure to attract today’s young bikers.
The bike is equipped with a liquid-cooled, SOHC, four-valve single-cylinder mill that Yamaha claims to be the most advanced mill developed till date. The 125 cc motor is accompanied by Variable Valve Actuation (VVA), adding flexibility to the engine's valve train. Featured with large intake and exhaust valves, the beast offers a maximum power of 15 PS and 11.5 Nm of peak torque. The fuel capacity of the tank in YZF-R125 is 11-litre that brings the wet weight to 142 kg at full capacity.
The larger diameter EFI throttle body combined with the larger exhaust helps in increasing the performance and efficiency. A six-speed gearbox and chain drive, along with assist and slipper clutch, reduces the effort of the clutch as well as the rear wheel hop.
The bike is easy to manoeuvre, thanks to the revised frame geometry for the steel Deltabox, featuring a shortened aluminium swingarm. Seat height is set at 820 mm and it rolls on 100/80-17 front and 140/70-17 rear tyres. The stability and handling are further improved by the wider 140-section rear tyre that comes standard on the R125. The suspension includes 41 mm diameter upside-down forks and a monoshock with 114 mm travel at the back.
Coming to the braking part, it features a 292 mm diameter disc at front and a 220 mm disc on the rear wheel. The front and the rear parts have two-piston and single-piston calipers respectively.
With a host of amazing features, the 2019 YZF-R125 Yamaha seems to rule the road in coming years with the riding spree of young riders. The launch of new YZF-R125 in EU is done, while people in the Philippines may have to wait longer.
