MANILA: Yamaha Motor Company has established a new venture that will provide subscription-based services for swappable batteries for compact electric vehicles (EV).

  • When will Enyring begin operations?

Enyring will start operations in the first half of 2025.
  • The new company — called Enyring — aims to create a closed loop for reusing and recycling of EV batteries with the help of European circularity pioneers.

Based in Berlin, Germany, Enyring will start operations in the first half of 2025. It is led by Chief Executive Officer Satoru Moriyama.

    Enyring

Yamaha Motor will be working with strategic partner companies for the successful operation of Enyring. There are also plans of expanding the business in Germany and the Netherlands.

Electric bikes and other compact, low-speed urban EVs are the target market for Enyring’s battery swapping services. These batteries help eliminate the inconvenience of recharging and the cost of buying a new battery once one reaches the end of its lifecycle. They can be easily swapped out at any of the Enyring battery swapping stations around the city at any time.

The old batteries that are no longer fit for use in vehicles will be repurposed as storage batteries, disassembled into cells, and reused as new batteries.

“This new initiative will work towards creating a sustainable, recycling-oriented society that reduces not only the economic and time burden on customers but also the impact on the environment,” Yamaha Motor wrote in a press release.

Enyring also aligns with the Yamaha Motor Group Environmental Plan 2050 as it promises to contribute in waste reduction, sustainable use of natural resources, and increased energy efficiency.
