Recent Updates of M4 Coupe

The BMW M4 Coupe is the sporty version of the 4 series. BMW’s M Sport division has had a field day with the M4 and turned it into a true track weapon. This is evident from the more aggressive styling with plenty of scoops, vents and aerodynamic elements along with a carbon fiber roof for weight saving. Under the hood is a 3L TwinPower bi-turbo inline 6 cylinder petrol engine producing 431 hp and 550 Nm of torque which can be increased further to 450 hp with the M Competition package. The engine is mated to a ZF 7 speed dual clutch automatic transmission. Other track focused enhancements include a lightweight balanced chassis with 50:50 weight distribution, adaptive suspension and active differential. The M Sport Competition package can ramp it up with carbon ceramic brakes. Interior is equally well equipped with an 8.8” touchscreen infotainment screen, BMW Connected suite of personal mobility assistant features and support for Apple CarPlay. The price for all this is Php 10490000.

BMW M4 Coupe Review 2024

Positioned above the M3 sedan and based on it, the M4 Coupe happens to be the juicier version of the former with better styling and road presence. The M4 shares its platform and engine option with the M3 sedan, which is a very good way to start things. Like in all the global markets, the M4 is available in the Philippines in only one standard variant, but with a host of customization options to choose from.

BMW M4 Coupe Interior & Features

As expected, the M4 shares it complete cabin and dashboard layout with the M3 sedan, which is not a bad thing, considering the fact that it is one of the most sportiest cabins with spot-on ergonomics to bring out the driver’s side in you.

The boring looking instrument console with dated fonts has been replaced here by a full LCD instrument console, however, the three-spoke steering wheel with silver inserts is the same as before. The hexagonal shaped wide center console is focused towards the driver, with the top portion of it getting a free-standing infotainment system. The choice of materials and upholsteries with M-branding at places makes this cabin feel even more special.

While the front seats of the M4 Coupe have no faults to deal with, it is the rear cabin space with limited headroom due to sloping roofline and cramped legroom which is a small disadvantage.

M4 Coupe Exterior

The exterior design of the M4 Coupe is typically and traditionally BMW-ish in many ways. However, one can’t deny the fact that it is a lovely and sporty car to look at. The car comes with many special bits over the M3, which makes it even more special.

The frontal stance of the M4 Coupe has been completely lifted off from the M3 – the double kidney grille here is finished in complete gloss black and the adjoining headlamps get LED inserts and lighting elements within them. The front bumper with aggressive cuts and air vents too has been shared with the M3 sedan.

However, when it comes to the side profile, things take a dramatic turn. Till the B-pillar, the M4 borrows the stance of the M3. However, post that, the sloping coupe-ish roofline and the sporty and frameless two door stance make a world of difference here. The only other thing which the M4 shares with the M3 is the sporty outside rear view mirrors with winglets in the inner edges.

Like the front, the rear profile too has been completely shared with the M3 sedan, with a proportionally designed boot lid and large and sleek LED tail lights and four exhaust pipes on the sporty rear bumper.

BMW M4 Coupe Ride & Handling

The coupe profile of the M4 plays its own set of advantages over the M3 when it comes to driving dynamics. The complete suspension setup of the M4 Coupe is the same as that on the M3 sedan, however, the lower roofline gives it a sportier stance, which aids in its fantastic stability even more. The suspension, like in the M3 sedan, is equipped with three different modes to play with – Comfort, Sport, and Sport+ for the suspension. The additional features do include an Adaptive M suspension, the Active M Differential, and M Servotronic, making the overall driving dynamics even more precise.

M4 Coupe Engine & Fuel Consumption

Sharing its 3.0-litre twin turbo V6 engine with the M3 sedan, the M4 Coupe delivers the same levels of engine performance as the legendary former. In the M4 Coupe too, the engine is capable of producing a maximum power output of 450 PS and a peak torque output of 550 Nm. The engine here is coupled to a new age 7-speed automatic gearbox.

BMW M4 Coupe Braking & Safety

The list of the safety features of the M4 Coupe includes six airbags, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning, cornering brake control, dynamic traction control and hill start assist.

M4 Coupe Verdict

Compared to the M3 sedan, the M4 Coupe brings in a dash of style, distinctiveness, and panache owing to its two-door look and coupe profile. And thankfully, it gets all the good things of the M3 retained in it, the most prominent of which do include the subtly designed cabin, wonderful engine performance, and great driving dynamics.
