The Ford Territory was launched in the Philippines in August 2020. It is the American brand's latest compact crossover car in its Philippines portfolio. The Ford Territory Territory is placed somewhere between the Ecosport and Explorer. Available in two versions, the Ford Territory Titanium X is the top-level model. The Territory was initially launched in the Trend and Titanium+ versions. Bookings for the second-generation, 2023 Ford Territory opened in March this year. This updated car is based on the Ford Equator Sport sold in the Chinese market.

The Ford Territory Titanium X is equipped with a turbocharged, 1.5-liter, four-cylinder, petrol engine which produces 158PS maximum power at 5,400rpm and 248Nm peak torque at 1,300rpm. The motor is paired with a seven-speed automatic with Ford Rotary E-Shifter. The suspension setup comprises of McPherson strut in the front and a multi-link setup at the back. It's the same powertrain that hauls the Ford Equator Sport.

Interior

The interior of the Ford Territory Titanium X is the best in the segment. The cabin is intelligently designed and features a mix of leather and high-quality plastics. Even the hard plastics look premium. The driver's seat is power-adjustable and the manual controls are equipped for the front passenger. Ford has added a rotary gear swift to the new Territory Titanium X. The central console has the usual cubby holes for storage. Overall the cabin is a nice mix of style and practicality.

Exterior

The car now comes with sharp LED headlights and an oversized front grille that contribute to its rugged appearance. Also, the sides have been modified to lend the car a more SUV-styled presence. The current-generation Ford Territory Titanium X sports an updated tailgate design and a new set of taillights, reminiscent of the iconic Ford Mustang sports car. The Ford Territory has grown in size and is now among the biggest cars in the crossover-SUV segment. It runs on 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels.

Drive and performance

The turbocharged 1.5-liter petrol engine, though a potent powertrain, somewhat lags in performance in the 2023 Ford Territory Titanium X. The acceleration is a bit delayed. But the handling is among the best in class. With a light and quick-response steering, the car turns corners effortlessly. Overtaking on crowded streets is no problem at all. On the highway, the Ford Territory comes across as a very able performer.

The car comes with 180mm of ground clearance. It's lower than SUVs but enough to challenge potholes and bumps easily. 

Passenger and boot space

The cabin of the 2023 Ford Territory Titanium X is roomy and spacious. There's enough legroom for rear-seat passengers to travel comfortably. The car is wider than most of its competitors and that give more comfort during long-distance travelling. The seats are comfortable and offer good back support. The suspension is soft and absorbs most of the bumps and thuds. But the downside of the soft suspension setup is that there's some exaggerated body roll particularly during hard cornering. The car comes with 420 liters of boot space. 

Comfort and entertainment

The 2023 Ford Territory Titanium X has a 12.0-inch full color touchscreen infotainment system with eight speakers. The system supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and voice recognition. The car comes with dual-zone automatic electronic air temperature control that cools the car pretty fast.

For buyers looking for a well-built car for daily commuting, the 2023 Ford Territory Titanium X offers great value in terms of comfort, specs, features, and size. Even highway driving is enjoyable when the car is fully loaded and the powertrain revs to its optimum torque. While not all of the driver-assist features are polished, it doesn't mean that the Ford Territory is sub-par than its rivals. It's a comfortable all-rounder that performs decently well.
