The new Freelander 2 comes fuelled by either the 2.2 ED4 diesel engine which delivers the maximum power of 150 PS at 3500 rpm, or the 2.2-litre TD4 diesel manual and auto engine that further enhance the maximum power to 190 PS at 3500 rpm alongside a maximum torque measuring 420 Nm at 1750 rpm which contributes to its tremendous off roading capabilities. The 2.0-litre Si4 petrol auto engine is also available that delivers a maximum power output of 240 PS at 5500 rpm alongside a peak torque of 340 Nm at 1750 rpm. The 6 speed auto/ manual transmission further improves the engine performance and helps in reaching 100 kmph mark in a time span of 8.8-9.5 seconds and the top speed measures 180 kmph. The British automaker has not only focused on performance but on the fuel economy as well and one can get a significant mileage of 11.36 kmpl.

Exteriors

Whether it is elegance or athletic build, the new Freelander 2 fits to every trait, that an SUV should acquire. The new fog lamps, rear spoiler, stylish front grill, side moulding and Bi-Xenon front headlights give the car ample reasons to flaunt on road. The overall dimensions of the car measure 4500 mm X 2005 mm X 1740 mm (L X W X H) and the wheelbase measures 2660 mm that makes provision for ample cabin space for the occupants. Leather tailored 4-spoke steering wheel is engraved with couple of decent audio and cruise controls. Clutch-less compressor equipped in the air conditioner offers a more controlled and refined air to the passengers. 380 W Meridian Audio Sound System in the car has a 11 speaker combination, that offers a quality sound all in the cabin. Premium Hard Disc Drive (HDD) navigation system with voice control, stores 100 GB data, which allow it to bypass heavy traffic. With 65/35 split folding seats the trunk volume of 280 litres could be increased to 2558 litres.

Safety, Braking and Miscellaneous

The car is equipped with solid disc in all the diesel variants and petrol variant comes with ventilated discs, which is further coupled with Anti- Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Force Distribution System (EBD) as well as Brake Assist (BA) that ensures effective braking in varied situations. 8-airbag combination of the Discovery, keeps the occupants cocooned inside the cabin during fatal crash. In addition to this the car is installed with emergency brake assist (EBA), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Electronic Traction Control (ETC), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Trailer Stability Assist (TSA) and Roll Stability Control (RSC) that reduces the probability of casualties.
