Innovation meets refinement to display the unbound power of engineering in the name of Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class. The perfectly-chiseled automobile from the German automaker marked its debut in the year 2004. The vehicle reveals its face in the form of a compact four-door mid-size luxury fastback sedan that is based on the Mercedes-Benz W211 E-Class and was internally designated as the W219. Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class Interior & Features

The interiors of the car are particularly crafted to display a pleasurable sense of ergonomics and luxurious comfort bathed in the essence of convenience. The cockpit displays a worth-experiencing authority in the form of the free standing central media display, sole intuitive infotainment system with 17.8 cm multi-functional TFT display with COMAND online that makes the driver aware of all the useful information and the 3-spoke multi-functional leather steering wheel. The driving comfort weaved by the designers is a product of the large leather-appointed seats, the efficient Thermatic automatic air conditioning system and the Audio 20 CD system with six speakers or the optional Harman Kardon Logic 7 surround-sound system.

CLS-Class Exterior

Elegance mates graciously with functionality to give a flamboyant and confident look to the coupe. The dominating diamond radiator grille blended with gloss black inserts and the eye-catching Mercedes-Benz logo builds the center of attraction of the front design. The extravagant front look of the car is further added with a sense of functionality with the well configured Bi-Xenon headlamps with daytime running LEDs forming a 'C' shape and the aqueous bonnet design with sharp aerodynamic hints. The standard 18-inch and 17-inch light-alloy wheel design further accentuates the looks of the German sedan. The wide and sleek look of the car is a product of the dimensions reading – 4940mm x 1881mm x 1416mm (L x W x H) and a long wheelbase of 2874mm contributing towards stability.

Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class Engine & Fuel Consumption

According to the power-mill that powers the athletic coupe it comes in three variants for the Philippines markets namely- the CLS 350 BlueEfficiency, the CLS 500 BlueEfficiency and the CLS 63 AMG variant. The engine resting under the hood of the most dynamic 63 AMG variant is the 5461 cc V8 engine that is integrated with homogeneous direct injection with spray guided combustion and employs turbocharging benefits with twin-turbochargers to yield in an efficient and performance-dedicated combustion process. This engine churns a maximum power output of 386 kW between 5250 and 5750 rpm and a maximum torque of 700 Nm between 1700 and 5000 rpm. While, for the 4663cc V8 engine powering the CLS 500 variant the power values are 300 kW between 5000 to 5750 rpm coupled to a peak torque of 600 Nm between 1600 to 4750 rpm. The finely-refined 5461cc engine is meshed with the AMG SpeedShift MCT 7-speed sports transmission that features a butter-smooth gear transition operation and in-coordination with the engine lets the car establish 100km/h of speed from a stand-still in mere 4.4 seconds. The car with full throttle unleashed sprints with 250 km/h of speed, which is electrically limited. This engine owing to the Controlled Efficiency drive program features a decent fuel economy of 9.9 litres/100km.

CLS-Class Braking & Safety

The Mercedes Benz CLS-Class is accurately integrated with a truckload of safety features which include adaptive cruise control, Collision Prevention Assist, Electronic Stability Program, Adaptive Brake, ABS, Acceleration Skid Control (ASR), Pre-Safe occupant protection system, and other basic safety systems like airbags and ISOFIX child seat attachments. The CLS-Class car features ventilated disc brakes on the front wheels while solid disc on the rear wheels and the suspension system consisting of spring strut and transverse type at the front axle and the control arm and trailing arm type at the rear axle.

Verdict

The furious coupe from Mercedes-Benz owing to its performance-dedicated and efficient performance, astonishing exterior design and solemnly intuitive interiors surely pleases each of its spectators. However, the car features a tense cargo space, which may fade its charm a little.
