Disappointing Overall Ride
My 2012 Pajero with a V6 gasoline engine exhibits a harsh ride and noisy interior cabin noise for typical Philippine concrete roads. It feels every small imperfection in the road finish and jiggles when it encounters road seams and even the tiniest holes and cracks, you feel. The interior front cabin has a jarring noisy sound. To be fair, the vehicle is silent, quiet and refined when the road is blacktopped. But most roads are now constructed concrete. My Montero had a much better ride, taut and tight, nary a shake of the body and everything seemed tight inside the cabin. Maybe because the Montero is built for Southeast Asia road conditions while the made in Japan Pajero is made for Japanese smooth roads. I grant the inside is luxurious, great leather seats though the 3rd row is just one slab of a seat. Not even a headrest. I seldom deploy it because luggage space is zippo when its up. The gas engine is no slouch. 250 horses. Average wise I pay for it - 6kms/liter. Ouch! Like other Mitsubishi vehicles Ive had - Strada pickup, Montero and this Pajero what is it about its steering joint. Theres a knocking sound when you turn the front wheels. And their tire inflation sensors dont work after the vehicle is 5 years old. Its the head unit that dont last because even the spare tire sensor is also dead.
