Subaru XV STI Performance

Introduction

Subaru XV STI is the performance kid of Subaru XV, and the car in many aspects copies its bigger siblings. But still it has some distinguishing traits that help one differing it from the non-performance version. Subaru XV STI is a crossover that unlike the others present in the market looks more like a compact SUV from the outside and is a full grown SUV from the inside. The car was launched in November 2014 in the Philippines market, shortly after making its debut on the Malaysian soil. Motor Image Philippines, the official distributor of Subaru vehicles in the Philippines, introduced the car at the time when everybody was going crazy after crossovers.

Subaru XV STI is the performance trim of Subaru XV and the cars run on the same engine that powers its elder sibling. Under its strong hood is present a 2.0L 4-Cylinder 16V Boxer engine that generates a maximum power of 148 hp @ 6200 rpm along with a peak torque of 196 Nm @ 4200 rpm. Being the performance kid it has the capability to go from 0 to 100 km/h mark in 10.7 seconds and it displays a top speed of 187 km/h. The said engine has a gasoline diet with a combined fuel consumption of 9.0L per 100 km. In addition, the car ranks decent on CO2 emission with 160g output per 100 km. The car has a 60L fuel tank and displays a range of 667 km.

Exteriors

As mentioned earlier, the Subaru XV STI is a crossover that displays some impressive body dimensions. The car measures 4450 mm in length, 1780 mm in width and 1615 mm in height. With its 2635 mm of wheelbase, the car has ample amount of room inside. The most impressive fact about XV its 220 mm of ground clearance that makes it an apt vehicle for a flood prone country like ours. In appearance, the car looks different from Subaru XV, as it has received many cosmetics updates. The STI performance comes along front under spoiler, daytime running lights, side under spoiler, rear roof spoiler, HID headlamps with auto leveler and flexible tower bar.

Interiors

On the inside of the car has received many updates that very well justifies its raised price tag. The cabin area in the STI performance trim gets comfortable and cozy leather seats, and high-grade type multi-functional display. Taking care of the cabin temperature is the dual-zone automatic air-conditioning system that comes fitted with an anti-dust filter. Delivering a great paranoiac view and a hint of freshness to the front and rear passengers in the power sliding, tilt-adjustable glass sunroof that goes manual in Subaru XV. As for trunk capacity, it can stuff in 310L with a maximum cargo of 1469L. Entertainment front includes front row LCD, with CD, AM/FM, USB, Bluetooth, and Aux-In.

Subaru XV acquired a five star in Euro NCAP rating, putting a stamp on Subaru's high safety claims. The car is built on a ring-shaped reinforcement frame that strengthens the passenger cabin frame that features high-tensile steel. Not only the occupants but pedestrian safety too is taken care of, the shock-absorbing space between bonnet and engine helps reducing pedestrian injury. Subaru XV STI is similar to Subaru XV in all aspects, with the only difference being its appearance. The car comes with an altogether special kit adding to the car's sports appeal. The biggest plus point of the car its safety that has been giving a 5-star rating by Euro NCAP.
