• About Volkswagen Philippines

  Founded on May 28, 1936, by Ferdinand Porsche, VW’s spark began when it was asked to build the perfect “People’s Car.” And the result is what we now know today as the Volkswagen Beetle. This iconic German automotive brand has stood the test of time, has survived one of the world’s deadliest war eras, and still came out on top as one of the world’s largest automaker.

  In the Philippines, Volkswagen first arrived in 1958 through its then-distributor DMG Inc. who sold models such as the VW Transporter, Kombi, and Beetle. The brand returned in 1996 through another importer who brought in models like the Polo Classic and Caravelle. But that too folded up soon after.

  After the long absence, Volkswagen AG announced Ayala Automotive Holdings as the new distributor of Volkswagen passenger cars in the Philippines in October 2012. It was then formalized in May 2013 when Weiming Soh, President for commercial operations in Greater China/ASEAN, signed the importer agreement with Fernando Zobel de Ayala, President, and CEO of Ayala Corporation, and John Philip Orbeta, Chairman and President of Ayala Automotive Holdings.

  After a long time of absence, Volkswagen returned to the Philippines in September 2013, the brand was publicly launched through an event called the “People’s Car Celebration,” showcasing Volkswagen’s latest models. Volkswagen Philippines now operates under its new official distributor Automotive Central Enterprises, Inc. (ACEI) - a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Ayala Corporation.

  With this partnership, Ayala Group’s automotive business expanded the current portfolio offering a much wider range of vehicles to the market and reinforcing Ayala’s dominance in the local automotive industry. Their line-up includes models such as the Santana, Lavida, Tiguan, Golf GTS, and Crafter, among others.

  Currently, Volkswagen Philippines is offering 5 new car models in the country. The Volkswagen Santana, Volkswagen Santana GTS, Volkswagen Lavida, Volkswagen Lamando, Volkswagen T-Cross are the most popular cars from Volkswagen in their respective car segments.
