• About BMW Philippines

  BMW Motorrad Philippines is the official distributor of BMW motorcycles in the country. Apart from being a successful luxury car brand, BMW commenced its motorcycle journey in 1921 when the company started building engines for other companies. By 1923, BMW's own motorcycles sold under the BMW Motorrad brand began with the BMW R 32, powered by the brand’s flat-twin engine or better known as the boxer-twin engine.

  Fast forward to 1993 and the German motorcycle brand began transition from engines with air-cooled cylinder heads to oil-cooled cylinder heads. By 2007, BMW acquired Husqvarna Motorcycles, including its production facilities and staff, from Italian manufacturer MV Agusta.

  Coming to its sales, in the first four months of the year 2019, the year-to-date sales total of BMW motorcycles in the Philippines is up by 78% from the same period last year, and by 469% from the same time frame just two years ago. 

  In the whole of 2017, BMW sold 470 motorcycles in the Philippino market. In 2018, that number was up to 813 units. In the most recent interviews, BMW Philippines president Spencer Yu and his Motorrad lieutenant Gil Balderas have targetted an incredible 1,500 motorbikes. 

  Locally, BMW Motorrad Philippines opened its first ‘Motorcycle only’ showroom in Davao last December 2018. Unlike those typical BMW showrooms that normally place the motorcycles within small, cramped spaces, this particular branch features its own facility without the distraction of cars. 

  Today, BMW Motorrad Philippines is currently led by Ramon S. Ang. The brand itself has a total of five operational dealers locally.
