Ducati Scrambler Sixty2 Design
The Scrambler Sixty2 gets the appeal of a bigger middleweight motorcycle in a smaller package: The bike gets a design similar to the bigger Scrambler Icon. It features a sophisticated and retro outlook with minimalist and clean styling. At the front, the Ducati Scrambler Sixty2 gets a rounded halogen headlamp with clear lens halogen turn indicators on either side. The DRL running around the circumference of the headlamp adds to the appeal along with the small and chopped-style front fender.
The side profile of the Ducati Scrambler Sixty2 is similar to the Scrambler Icon as well. Some styling features like a blacked-out finish for the exhaust pipe, a black finish for the engine and multi-spoke alloy wheels enhance its retro appeal. The bike gets a small and rounded fuel tank along with a blacked-out trellis frame and blacked decals which add a bold and aggressive stance. The Y-shaped sleek side body panels are complemented by a slim-looking rear cowl and a long and curved rear fender.
The bike comes with a compact and rounded fully digital instrument console which gets the speedometer, tachometer, odometer, trip meters, fuel gauge, gear indicator, and clock.
Scrambler Sixty2 Ride & Handling
Once again, the bike gets the same chassis setup as that of the Scrambler Icon. The tubular trellis frame, along with 41mm Showa traditional telescopic forks at the front and Kayaba mono-shock with fully adjustable preload at the rear makes for great comfort and a very nice riding experience.
The bike gets an 18-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel with soft-compound Pirelli MT 60 RS tyres. Handling is exceptional with great stability around corners and sharp turns thanks to a perfect riding posture and pretty wide handlebars which make for comfort as well as convenience.
Ducati Scrambler Sixty2 Engine & Fuel Consumption
The Ducati Scrambler Sixty2 is powered by a very capable four-stroke, air-cooled, L-twin, Desmodromic, 399cc engine. In spite of being the smallest motorcycle engine in the current lineup of Ducati, the engine makes a maximum power output of 40 bhp and a peak torque output of 34 Nm paired to a 6-speed gearbox.
The engine is smooth, efficient, and very refined, characteristic of Ducati’s quality of engineering. The bike offers a smooth ride and very fast acceleration with commendable and impressive throttle response as well.
Scrambler Sixty2 Braking & Safety
While the Ducati Scrambler Sixty2 gets a basic equipment package, the braking duties are handled pretty well by a 320mm disc with a 2-piston floating caliper at the front and a 245mm disc with a 1-piston floating caliper at the rear.
For added braking safety and stability, the bike also gets a dual-channel ABS but no other safety features. This is primarily done by Ducati to keep the bike affordable and as low cost as possible.
Ducati Scrambler Sixty2 Verdict
The Ducati Scrambler Sixty2 gets a basic package for safety and equipment. While that is a detriment and the lack of modern-day tech features can be a drawback, the bike is definitely an affordable option with the Ducati badge and its class of refinement and engineering.
It is a pretty good entry-level middleweight motorcycle, and its classy neo-retro design gives it a premium appeal. Amongst other valuable features are the top-quality chassis and a punchy L-twin that offers great aesthetics and appeal. The bike is an amazing package at its price and for a Ducati at this range, it is definitely worth it!
