Indian Scout Sixty Design

The Indian Scout Sixty looks exactly like its elder sibling, the standard Scout cruiser. This might be a good thing for many prospective buyers, who want the elegant, old-school design of the Scout, but with a smaller and slightly less powerful engine.

At the front, the Indian Scout Sixty has a minimalist fascia comprising a functional-looking halogen rounded headlamp placed within a half-circular cowl. The headlamp has rounded orange-coloured turn indicators on either side, which complete the old-school design of the front fascia. These turn indicators have chrome housings, which add a touch of premium appeal to the motorcycle. Even the chopped-themed curved fender above the front tyre has been shared with the more powerful Scout.

The Indian Scout Sixty has a large and wide radiator behind its front wheel and ahead of the V-twin engine, which sits below the sloping and elegant-looking fuel tank. Featuring a 3D Indian logo, the fuel tank flows down to the low-positioned single seat of the motorcycle. The Scout Sixty also gets dual chrome-finished exhaust pipes stacked vertically. While the Scout Sixty comes with a single-seater configuration as standard, it comes with the option of fitting a pillion seat above the curved rear fender.

The Scout Sixty’s rear profile is prominently dominated by the large and curved rear fender, which houses vertically-aligned ovular LED tail lamps. The fender also comes attached to rounded orange turn indicators within chrome housings.

Following the footsteps of the larger traditional cruisers from Indian Motorcycles, the Scout Sixty also gets a wide handlebar with good quality switches, silver-finished levers and chrome finish for the rearview mirrors. In the middle of the handlebar, the Scout Sixty gets a single-pod rounded instrument console, consisting of an analogue speedometer and an LCD panel, which offers digital readouts for fuel level, odometer and trip meters. The Scout Sixty also comes with forward-set foot-pegs for a proper cruiser riding experience.

Scout Sixty Ride & Handling

Along with the basic design, the Indian Scout Sixty has also retained the general mechanical setup with the larger Scout. It has a suspension combination of 41mm telescopic forks with 120mm travel at the front and an adjustable mono-shock with 76mm travel at the rear. Even the presence of a single 298mm disc at both front and rear is the same as that in the larger Scout. The Scout Sixty comes with 16-inch alloy wheels wrapped with tubeless tyres from Pirelli, which offer excellent grip levels and keep the motorcycle stable even at higher speeds.

Indian Scout Sixty Engine & Fuel Consumption

The biggest differentiator between the Indian Scout Sixty and the larger Scout cruiser is the smaller and less powerful engine in the former. Powering the Scout Sixty is a 60 cubic-inches engine, which is a four-stroke, V-twin, liquid-cooled, 1000cc engine. With a maximum power output of 78 bhp and a peak torque output of 88 Nm, this engine is 17 hp less powerful and 9 Nm less torquey than the V-twin of the bigger Scout. Despite the smaller engine, the Scout Sixty feels powerful enough with more than enough torque for both urban and highway driving experiences. The transmission on duty here is a 6-speed gearbox.

Scout Sixty Braking & Safety

Except for the ABS, the Indian Scout Sixty gets no other prominent safety feature, which is a bit sad fact, considering that it is one expensive motorcycle to buy.

Indian Scout Sixty Verdict

If you are someone who wants to buy a feature-rich motorcycle, the Scout Sixty is not for you. It is for those purists, who prefer the old-world charm of traditional cruisers, but with a very minute touch of modernity. It has a torquey engine and feels stable and composed for relaxed cruising on highways.
