KTM 1090 Adventure R

As far as the design of the KTM 1090 Adventure R goes, it is almost as perfect as it can be for an adventure-centric litre-class bike. The Austrian brands legacy of decades of rally victories is reflected by the design of this bike, which was first introduced as the 1090 Adventure back in 2017. There are a number of convenience and comfort-focused features which make it a well-designed adventure package. 

A windshield and an alloy handlebar which can be mounted in different positions to suit the riding style and riders with varying heights is also complemented with adjustable seats and footpegs. The positioning is perfect with the rider being able to stand on wide, serrated pegs and you get a gentle bend in your arms to reach the handlebar. Overall, the ground clearance and the seat height is optimized with a taller and better riding position than its rivals. 

The KTM 1090 Adventure R was never conceptualised as a road bike. Instead, it was designed to be an engaging, exciting and comfortable off-roading beast. The bike definitely matches those standards and has some seriously impressive off-roading capabilities with impeccable ride quality and smooth handling on the roughest of riding surfaces and conditions. 

The bike gets a flawless and enjoyable ride-by-wire fuel injection system which offers an excellent riding experience with smooth power delivery and great throttle response as well. The bike gets a WP shock that can be adjusted for preload and rebound damping, with 220 mm of travel allowance at both ends. You also get optional luggage mounts on the sides of the bike for added convenience on tours. 

A key USP of the 1090 Adventure R is its super powerful and performance-oriented engine. The bike is powered by a 1050cc engine, 75°V-twin-cylinder, DOHC engine with 4 valves per cylinder. The engine can produce a maximum power of 125 hp at 8500 rpm and a peak torque of 109 Nm at 6500 rpm. The bike can mark a top speed of 137 km/h. 

Not just that, the bike also provides pretty impressive fuel economies which can range between 25-30 kmpl. The bike weighs approximately 207 kg with a fuel tank capacity of 23 liters, so you get long uninterrupted rides without worrying about refuelling. The punchy power delivery of the engine is a key highlight and as said earlier, the flawless ride-by-wire fuel injection system and multi-mode traction control does the job. The six-speed manual transmission gearbox is decent but can be a little clunky at times. 

For braking, the bike gets disc brakes on both wheels along with anti-lock braking system (ABS), the bike gets stable and commendable braking capabilities. 

For added safety, you get multi-mode traction control,  and a feature that automatically disengages the signal light should it be forgotten to be turned off, along with all other basic safety components.

The KTM 1090 Adventure R goes against some fine adventure bikes like the Honda CB500X, BMW R1250GS Adventure, Triumph Tiger 800 in the Philippines. In spite of that, the bike turns out to be one of the best packages in its segment when it comes to the finest off-roading capabilities and the best riding experience a litre-class adventure bike can offer.
