MotorStar Escooter

The MotorStar Escooter is definitely a show stopper in the looks department. The scooter takes a retro-chic approach to its design with a design heavily inspired from old Vespas. The scooter comes in a tiny package with a length of 1730 mm, width of 660 mm and height of 1050 mm. This is accentuated by a curvaceous body with minimal styling details. The front apron with its large high and centrally mounted headlight and tiny circular indicators gives it a cute appearance. The instruments mounted on top of the yoke with flat style handlebars. The instruments as well as the headlight surround and the circular rear view mirrors are plated in chrome and give it a very classy look. The front fender riding high above the tiny wheels gives it a slightly ungainly appearance but does not matter a lot when the rest of the bike looks so good. From the sides, the classic styling carries over with oval shaped engine covers in body color and a seat and surrounding panels in beige. To round off the design, there is a large factory fitted round luggage carrier mounted behind the rear grab rail. While the design is cool and cute in the best way, the body colored swing arm does not make a lot of sense. The beige colored seats and panels might not work with all the color combinations. There are three of these color options on offer here- black, white, and red.

The MotorStar Escooter is provided with a telescopic fork setup for the front and dual shock absorbers for the rear. The seat is comfortable and the seating position with its raised handlebars and large footboard is relaxed. The handling is well suited for a female commuter with the scooter’s lightweight nature and low seat height.

The MotorStar Escooter is an electric scooter. It is powered by an integrated, low speed, brushless motor which is mated to a CVT gearbox. This generates 240 W of power and 15 Nm of torque. This can propel the 125 kg bike to a speed of 45 kg. The biggest worry facing people who are interested in electric vehicles is, of course, range anxiety. The battery pack in the Escooter comes with a capacity of 20 to 22 Ah. This gives the scooter a range of 40-60 km depending on how the scooter is ridden. The battery takes up to eight hours to fully charge. This might not appear to be the most ideal situation here, but it does make a lot of sense for someone whose riding consists entirely of commuting to and fro from work along with a little city riding.

Braking is relegated to drum brakes both front and rear.

The MotorStar Escoter is a decision in the right step for a company like this. The future is undeniably going to be electric and this allows the company to have a foot in the door. As a scooter, it performs well for a commuter and looks good while doing it. Servicing infrastructure is slowly catching up and parts availability has also improved.
