NWOW Golden Butterfly 2

For a moped, which is often seen as a bare-basic mode of transport on two wheels, the Nwow Golden Butterfly2 looks quite fancy and appealing. From the point of view of a moped or bicycle, the Nwow Golden Butterfly2 has got a decent amount of bodywork, which looks stylish, and tries hard to not make the bike look basic.

The front profile of the Nwow Golden Butterfly2 looks basic with a slim curve-shaped headlamp unit, where the moped gets a V-shaped halogen headlamp. The headlamp here is assisted with clear lens turn indicators, which are also housed in the handlebar cowl. This handlebar cowl is placed on top of a vertical pillar, which is also body-coloured and flows towards the cowl below.

The cowl present in the lower half of the front profile is affixed with the front forks of the suspension unit, which is also attached to a huge white-coloured basket ahead of it. This basket is mounted on a tubular frame, which is attached to the edges of the cowl and floorboard. The front-wheel gets a separate chrome-finished fender over it, which also has a rubber-made mudguard at its bottom.

Behind the floorboard, the Nwow Golden Butterfly2 gets a nicely styled body panel, which has a curved design and also accommodates working pedals in its lower portion. At the top of this curved panel, there is a vertically-aligned pillar, above which the rider’s seat is placed. The battery pack which gives the power for motion is also placed behind this seat openly.

Behind this battery pack, the Nwow Golden Butterfly2 gets a pillion seat, which has a tubular grab rail in front of it, above the battery pack, and a backrest behind it. This pillion seat is placed above a body-coloured panel, which is mounted above the curved and chrome-finished rear fender. The Nwow Golden Butterfly2 comes with chrome-finished alloy wheels, which help the moped look smarter. The instrument console of the electric moped, however, looks very basic, with only a speedometer and an odometer in place.

The minimal bodywork and light-weighted character of the Nwow Golden Butterfly2 make it very easy to ride for the short commutes. The rest of the mechanical hardware of this bike is pretty basic, with it getting pared-down hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and a slanted mono-shock at the rear. The Nwow Golden Butterfly2 gets drum brakes at either end, which are sufficient enough to bring this bike to a halt with ease.

The Nwow Golden Butterfly2 is equipped with a very basic electric motor and battery combination, which is good enough only for low-speed short commutes. While the power comes from a 0.4 kW electric motor, the range is obtained from a 48V/12Ah battery. The Nwow Golden Butterfly2 claims a decent range of 50-70 km in a single charge of the battery, which here is a removable unit. The electric moped can run at a top speed of 40-45 km/h. Even after the battery gets exhausted, the Nwow Golden Butterfly2 can be operated by pedaling, just like any other electric bicycle.

The Nwow Golden Butterfly2 is a basic electric moped, which is built to a cost, and thus misses out on more premium safety features like ABS and lockable ignition keyhole, which are generally present in modern entry-level scooters.

The Nwow Golden Butterfly2 looks like a half-hearted attempt due to the absence of crucial bodywork and below-average mechanicals. However, for its price, it is an absolute deal with the practicality of an electric moped and an added benefit of a bicycle.
