Skygo Archer

Compared to the extremely utilitarian and boring looking vehicles of Skygo, the Archer has a very refreshing and contemporary design, which is primarily aimed at the youth audience.

At the front, the Archer comes with a conventional headlamp on the handlebar, which looks quite sharp in our opinion. The front apron too is designed in a curvy manner, with flared shaped for turn indicators with small air vents below them. The high mounted front fender gives the Archer an athletic stance which goes well with the design.

The side edges of the front apron extend towards the sides with slimmer panels flowing downwards with sharper edges. The side profile of the Archer looks quite lean, thanks to the slim bodywork. The front apron comes with a small bottle holder and a luggage mounting hook in its inner portion, which makes carrying luggage bags quite a hassle-free experience.

The seat, though narrow in size, has the ability to seat two adults quite comfortably. The long tubular grab rail, though functional, could have styled with an added flair, as it looks very simple. Same goes for the single long exhaust pipe as well, as its design too is plain. Also, the presence of spoke wheels in place of alloys is a missed opportunity in raking up its modernity.

At the rear, the Skygo Archer has got a minimalist tail lamp assembly, which has been designed smartly with clear lens turn indicators. The rider’s cockpit comprises of a very simple and straight-forward instrument console, which comes with just an analog speedometer and a fuel gauge with the odometer. Given its aggressive pricing, the build quality has been compromised with, however, not by a big margin.

Fitted with a set of hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and a pair of hydraulic coil springs at the rear, the Skygo Archer offers the riding experience of a motorcycle. This, when including the very light kerb weight of 97kgs, makes it a very light vehicle which is quite nimble to ride in tight city traffic conditions.

The large 17-inch wheels offer a planted feel on the tarmac, however, the tyres are quite skinny which robs the feel a bit. Talking about the braking experience, the Skygo Archer is equipped with a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear, which offer decent feedback on the application as well.

Under the skin of the Skygo Archer is placed a four-stroke, single- cylinder, air-cooled, carbureted, 107cc engine. Coupled to a simple and no-nonsense four-speed gearbox, the engine is capable of belting out a maximum power output of 7PS and a peak torque output of 6.9Nm.  Considering the light kerb weight of just 97kgs, the power to weight ratio is quite good, which translates into decent performance levels.

The Skygo Archer, being an aggressively priced introductory vehicle, suffers from the omission of premium safety features as a measure of cost cutting. However, the presence of a front disc brake makes up for small applause.

The Skygo Archer is actually the only vehicle from Skygo which looks desirable as far as visual appeal is concerned. The reason behind this saying is the fact that the overall design looks trendy and has got a sense of modernity. Apart from it, the Archer has got a decent combination of performance from its 107cc engine as well as nicely tuned suspension and handling, which makes it a worthy city commuter. However, given its youthful nature, we would have liked to see a couple of convenience and safety features on the Archer.
