Skygo Knight 150-NS Review 2024

Straying away from the established big four of the motorcycle world in the Philippines is not often recommended. But with the influx of low cost Chinese and Indian motorcycle brands, buyers are bound to be intrigued. These bikes are often as attractive as their Japanese counterparts while being much cheaper than them. The Skygo Marketing Corporation is just one such company that has been making waves in the commuter motorcycle scene in the Philippines. With technology borrowed from Chinese corporations Lifan and NIto, they have launched a sizable portfolio of motorcycles, mopeds and scooters that cater to many different niches. Their Knight 150-NS is a premium 150 cc commuter motorcycle with aggressive naked styling and a low price tag of just Php 64700. This makes it much cheaper than the equivalent Japanese competition. There is still, however, some competition from the likes of the Yamaha SZ and the TVS Apache Xventure 180.

Skygo Knight 150-NS Design

The Skygo Knight 150-NS is essentially a rebadged Lifan KP150. With a length of 2060 mm, width of 745 mm and height of 1080 mm, the bike has the usual street bike dimensions. The wheelbase is a similarly compact 1330 mm. The ground clearance is substantial at 180 mm and the bike should not face any trouble of scraping its bottom. The Knight 150-NS rides on 17” 6 spoke alloy wheels with 80/100 front and 110/80 rear tubeless tires. As a street bike, it is not much different from its peers. But it does stand out in its own way. Hints of other bikes can be seen in the design but the overall look is unique. The halogen headlight is a curvy feminine unit flanked by blue LED parking lights. The windshield is a small double bubble bikini fairing and the indicators are stalk mounted. The front mud guard is similarly curvy as is the theme for this bike. The view from the side is dominated by the curvy fuel tank with tank shrouds similar to the headlight shape. The deep stepped seat is fixed on a prominently displayed frame section with a side mounted monoshock on the left and a triangular section exhaust on the right. The pillion rider gets a grab handle that is split in the back. The taillight uses LED for a nice effect. Instrumentation uses a large conventional analog tachometer along with a digital display on the right lower corner for all the other information that includes a tripmeter. The bike does draw attention to itself and stands out from the crowd with its curvy design.

Knight 150-NS Ride & Handling

The bike uses a conventional telescopic fork setup in the front and a side mounted monoshock in the rear. The front forks work well at absorbing road imperfections but the rear suspension is hard. As is the rear seat. The front seat uses a grippy fabric material that allows the rider to confidently slide around. The rear seat material is conventional. The rider’s seat itself is quite low at 775 mm making it easy to ride for people of most heights. The riding stance is kept upright and relaxed with high placed and wide handlebars and low set footpegs. The streamline design makes for good wind protection.

Skygo Knight 150-NS Engine & Fuel Consumption

Powering the Skygo Knight 150-NS is a 150 cc air-cooled and carbureted engine producing a peak power output of 12.7 hp at 8500 rpm and peak torque output of 12 Nm at 6000 rpm. The bike uses a manual clutch with a 5-speed transmission. The bike only comes with electric start. The bike provides sporty acceleration and a great exhaust note. It can reach a top speed of 125 kmph. The engine is also frugal, with the engine delivering up to 50 kmpL mileage figures. The bike comes with a fuel tank capacity of 15-litre giving it good range.

Knight 150-NS Braking & Safety

The Skygo Knight 150-NS gets decent braking thanks to disc brakes both front and rear.

Skygo Knight 150-NS Verdict

For its price range the Skygo Knight 150-NS delivers a great package in its stylish body. It has decent equipment, decent performance and an unbeatable price. But being a Chinese bike, its reliability is rather questionable when it comes to long term use. Still for anyone looking for a motorcycle in this category, this is definitely worth a look.
