Recent Updates of GSX-R750

The Suzuki GSX R750 is Suzuki’s flagship middleweight sports bike that affords riders the lightness of a 600 cc super sports bike and the power of a liter class. Now however with stricter emission norms in Europe and rest of the world, the super sports segment is slowly dying. The GSX R750 itself hasn’t received an update since 2011. The bike has even been discontinued in many markets including the Philippines. It is however very likely that Suzuki will relaunch the bike in 2019 due to its unique popularity. The GSX R750 is modeled to perform much like the bigger GSX R1000 right from the same aerodynamically designed sporty fairing over the twin-spar aluminum frame. The drivetrain is a 750 cc liquid cooled DOHC inline 4 mated to a 6-speed transmission. The engine produces 128 ps of peak power and 76 Nm of peak torque. Inverted front forks, Brembo brakes and very few electronic aids in the form of dual channel ABS and selectable drive modes give it a raw feel. At Php 699000, the GSX R750 was quite affordable too by comparison.

Suzuki GSX-R750 Review 2024

With the GSX-R 750, Suzuki has shown the world that there is still some scope left in the middleweight category of 600 cc super sports and the litre class super sports bike. The state of the art engine configuration of 750 cc has given the GSX-R 750 an edge over the conventional middleweight motorcycles, both in terms of performance and dynamics. The GSX-R 750 is currently available at a price of Php 699,000, and is offered in three color options – Pearl Vigor Blue with Pearl Glacier White, Black Blue, and Black.

Suzuki GSX-R750 Design

Going by the looks it is quite evident to judge that the GSX-R750 mimics the styling of the previous generation flagship, the GSX-R 1000. However, with a few changes here and there and scaled down dimensions suggest that it is a motorcycle with smaller numbers.

At the front, the GSX-R 750 gets a single headlamp setup with functional and aesthetically good looking air scoops adjacent. The motorcycle gets fairing mounted rear view mirrors with turn indicators integrated into them.

The GSX-R 750 looks like a conventional supersport when viewed from the sides – partially exposed engine with aggressive side fairing, large fuel tank, and split seats with high mounted pillion seat. The carbon fibre bodywork below the fuel tank gives it a sense of premium-ness. The beefy looking single exhaust pipe adds to the muscularity of the motorcycle, although the three-spoke alloy wheels look pretty dated.

At the rear, the GSX-R 750 gets the same kind of unified tail lamp cluster which we have already seen on the previous generation GSX-R 1000. The LED tail lamp gets the turn indicators integrated into one cluster. Talking about the instrument console, a part of the digital panel has been lifted off from the GSX-R 600. It contains an analogue tachometer and an LCD screen displaying speedometer, odometer, trip meters, gear indicator, selected ride mode, temperature gauge, and fuel gauge.

GSX-R750 Ride & Handling

Being a supersport bike, the Suzuki GSX-R 750 aims to provide riding dynamics as sharp as other supersport in the brand’s stable. The motorcycle comes fitted with a pair of inverted hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and a linked monoshock at the rear. The suspension, as expected, is set on a stiffer side, which helps in making this fairly sized motorcycle quite agile despite its high kerb weight. The downside to it, surely, is the stiff ride quality – an experience which only worsens with the limited pillion seat comfort.

The motorcycle is equipped with a drive mode selector, which enables the rider to set the riding character and suspension as per his preference. To bring this motorcycle to a halt, Suzuki has employed twin disc brakes at the front and a single disc brake at the rear.

Suzuki GSX-R750 Engine & Fuel Consumption

The powertrain of the Suzuki GSX-R 750 is one of its major highlights, as the 750 cc layout is quite unique to the supersport category. The four-stroke, liquid-cooled, inline four, fuel injected, 750 cc engine is good enough to pump out a maximum power output of 128 PS and a peak torque of 76 Nm.

The power output puts the GSX-R 750 close enough to many litre-class motorcycles in terms of raw output, which explains its fantastic power delivery in higher revs. However, with the limited amount of torque available, it lacks the bottom end grunt which is essential for initial pull.

GSX-R750 Braking & Safety

The supersport bikes of today’s generation do pack in a number of electronic riding aids. However, the GSX-R 750, in addition to the overall styling, do feels a bit of old school in terms of limited riding aids available. In the name of safety aids, the GSX-R 750 packs in only a dual channel ABS and drive modes.

Suzuki GSX-R750 Verdict

The Suzuki GSX-R 750 is bit old school, then be it in terms of overall styling or riding quality. This makes us feel that it is quite similar to the litre-class motorcycles of yesteryears. And that is the beauty of the GSX-R 750 – it has the compactness of a 600 cc motorcycle and the scaled-down performance of a litre-class motorcycle. This, in addition to the unique engine configuration, gives the GSX-R 750 an edge over other middleweight supersport motorcycles.
