Suzuki GSX S1000Z Review 2024
Abhishek Katariya says
The Suzuki GSX-S1000Z is basically the all-black version of the litre-class naked roadster motorcycle, the standard GSX-S1000. Available in only one standard variant with the sole color option of metallic matte black, the Suzuki GSX-S1000Z is being offered in the Philippines at a price of PHP 679,000.
Suzuki GSX S1000Z Design
The only differentiator between the Suzuki GSX-S1000Z and the standard Suzuki GSX-S1000 is the paint option and all blacked out cycle parts. Rest assured, the Suzuki GSX-S1000Z is exactly the same motorcycle as the Suzuki GSX-S1000, which has got a muscular appeal to it. However, considering the fact that the original design has been in existence for more than half a decade now, it is now beginning to feel too long in the tooth.
At the front, the Suzuki GSX-S1000Z has got an aggressive-looking headlamp, which gets curved side edges as well as razor-sharp cowl for the headlamp. This headlamp unit is an old fashioned halogen unit and has a small pilot lamp at the bottom of it. A small rakish triangular visor is attached to the back of the instrument console, which rounds off the front fascia of the motorcycle.
The Suzuki GSX-S1000Z looks very beefy when viewed from the side, and the major credits to this go to the large curvy fuel tank as well as sharp looking R-like fuel tank extensions, the lower portions of which flow all the way down. The engine too gets a sharp-looking cowl for it, which completely covers its bottom portion.
The side body panels, five-spoke alloy wheels, engine as well as stubby exhaust pipe has been finished in an all-black theme, and so are the curved rear side body panels, which rise all the way towards the rear in an inclined manner. There is a small clear lens LED tail lamp which sits at the tip of the tailpiece, which has a long pointy rear fender attached to it. The Suzuki GSX-S1000Z does with clear lens turn indicators which though are not LED units.
The Suzuki GSX-S1000Z has got a full LCD instrument console, which is a trapezoidal unit with a blue backlit theme and gets all the required information on tap, including that of a speedometer, tachometer, odometer, trip meters, fuel gauge, temperature gauge and a very informative MID unit. While this instrument console is loaded with information, the Suzuki GSX-S1000Z could have done with a modern TFT panel which its other peers have started getting as a part of standard equipment.
GSX S1000Z Ride & Handling
The Suzuki GSX-S1000Z gets its basic hardware, which is comprised of all top quality bits which make it one of the most agile roadsters on sale in the market right now. The Suzuki GSX-S1000Z has got a solid suspension setup in the form of upside-down hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and a fully adjustable monoshock at the back. While the front wheel has double-disc brakes with Brembo 4-piston setup, the rear does with single disc brake with a Nissin single-piston unit.
Suzuki GSX S1000Z Engine & Fuel Consumption
The powertrain of the Suzuki GSX-S1000Z is derived from the litre-class supersport from Suzuki, the mighty GSX-R1000 – a four-stroke, inline-four, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, 999cc engine. The Suzuki GSX-S1000Z shares its 6-speed gearbox with its faired sibling, but here, the engine is tuned in a different state with a more usable bottom end and mid-range. While the power output of the Suzuki GSX-S1000Z is rated at 150 PS, the peak torque output maxes out at 108 Nm.
GSX S1000Z Braking & Safety
In terms of safety and electronic riding aids, the Suzuki GSX-S1000Z is one of the most archaic bikes in its category. The motorcycle does only with the must-have bits like a dual-channel ABS and an advanced traction control system with three different ride modes to choose from.
Suzuki GSX S1000Z Verdict
The Suzuki GSX-S1000Z might not be as technologically advanced and feature-rich as the new crop of updated litre-class roadsters. However, for the purists who demand uncompromised performance and riding dynamics, the Suzuki GSX-S1000Z impresses with its super smooth and tractable engine and finely balanced chassis.
