TVS Neo XR

For an under-bone bike, the TVS Neo XR looks quite fancy and youthful, and the key factors which do create this impression are the sharp and slim looking body panels as well as bold decals it comes stickered with.

The front look of the TVS Neo XR is quite sharp and pointy, with the front apron having a compact design, which flows down in a slightly curved manner. The Y-shaped front fender is mounted quite highly here, just below the front apron.

The side extension panels of the front apron flow down all the way towards the engine, and have pointy low ends, thus enhancing its sharp persona even more. The engine, as well as five, spoke alloy wheels look good and well finished with their black theme, and so does the slim chrome shield over the otherwise boring looking exhaust pipe.

The panels over the frame of the bike look slim and manage to give an athletic appeal to the bike in a whole, with their slim design which rises upwards to the rear tail lamp cluster as well as sporty-looking body decals. At the bottom, just ahead of the engine, there is a small engine cowl which nicely gels with the other body panels of the bike.

At the back, the TVS Neo XR has a compact design for the tail lamp cluster, which looks nice with the integration of clear lens turn indicators in them and sharp looking pillion grab rail above it. The single-piece seat, as well as rear fender, are long enough to make the TVS Neo XR look practical.

The instrument console of the TVS Neo XR is a simple affair, with its all analogue theme for the speedometer, fuel gauge, odometer and trip meter. The TVS Neo XR lacks a number of modern-day features, which has been done to keep the costs in check. But a few add-ons over the competitors would have been appreciated here, as the design of the bike really looks good and youthful. Rest assured, TVS has made no compromises when it comes to quality level as well as fit and finish of the parts and panels.

Apart from the durable engine, the TVS Neo XR has other fine mechanical aspects which do ensure its long-lasting feel. These aspects include a sturdy suspension setup of hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and rectangular swing-arm with hydraulic coil springs at the rear. A pair of 110mm drum brakes at both the ends is standard in the Basic variant, though the Plus variant comes with a 220mm disc brake at the front.

The TVS Neo XR has been fitted with a four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled, 109.6cc engine, which does its duty in a range of other products from TVS as well. The engine here is paired to a basic 4-speed gearbox and produces maximum power and torque outputs of 8.6 PS and 8.5 Nm respectively. 

Sadly, the TVS Neo XR feels very underequipped when it comes to safety too, with the under-bone bike missing out on many new and crucial add-ons like ABS. Nevertheless, we would recommend going for the Plus variant, for the additional front disc brake it has.

Keeping aside the lack of features, the TVS Neo XR emerges out as a well-rounded package, with its sleek and youthful design, reliable engine and sturdy suspension and braking setups. The bike, despite being a not-so-old nameplate in the Philippines two-wheeler market as compared to its rivals, has managed to bring in sufficient amount of success just on the basis of these traits.
