An excellent entry-level bike

I was looking for an entry-level sportbike for my son, who has just learned to drive two-wheelers. After vigorous research and recommendations from the dealer, I decided to purchase Yamaha YZF-R3. Its friendly character and compact dimension make it an excellent beginner's bike. A few downsides are that it doesn't have an assist and slipper clutch, and its 321cc engine falls behind the large-displacement competition. Its refined brakes and chassis make it responsive both on winding roads and on track. It also lacks ABS, which is the standard safety feature.
