Hino XZU600L Review 2024
Abhishek Katariya says
Hino Motors recently updated their 300 Series of Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV) to Pro. Included in the lineup is Hino XZU600L, a four-wheel narrow cab.
Like its stablemates, the XZU600L is capable of hauling light to medium-sized cargo. The truck is ideal for quick deliveries and transporting goods across cities. Its gross vehicle weight has increased from 4,800 kg to 5,000 kg in the latest model. According to the Japanese manufacturer, it has the highest GVW in its segment.
Transmission and safety have also been improved. It is now equipped with Hino Connect, a smart telematics device that allows businesses to keep track of their fleet, among other useful features. We can expect no less of a four-wheeler that hails from a subsidiary of the Toyota Group of Companies.

Hino XZU600L Interior & Features
Compared to the previous model, getting in and out of the cab is easier on the new XZU600L thanks to its larger entryway and wider footsteps. The cabin is also optimized for comfort. It’s equipped with air conditioning and has a larger interior.
Elevated seats ensure that the driver gets a good view of the road. The seats are also adjustable. You can slide them back for extra legroom. Since it’s a single cab model, Hino XZU600L has no rear seats. But it has enough space for 2 additional passengers on top of the driver.
Behind the steering wheel is a LED meter panel that lights for increased visibility at night. For entertainment, there’s an AM/FM system that supports CD, USB, and AUX playback. There’s plenty of storage compartments, and you can fold the passenger seat to make way for additional cargo.
XZU600L Exterior
Hino XZU600L measures 4,680 mm long, 1,695 mm wide, and 2,130 mm tall. It has a single cab up front and a box-shaped cargo at the back. Overall, it looks like your average narrow cab truck with a rugged exterior. Although it has a few design features that serve a purpose.
For instance, the windshield angle is adjusted in the new model for better aerodynamics and increased cabin space. The front corners - which now have a more gradual curve - minimize drag.
Speaking of the front, you get a massive low-lying matte black grill with Hino’s chrome emblem at the top. It’s flanked by a large pair of headlights with turn signals on the sides, and a black bumper at the bottom.
Both side mirrors are mounted to the front windshield and extend outwards beyond the side doors. The sides sport four 7.00R 16-12PR wheels and distinctive wheel arches which align with the bumper and curve upwards to accommodate the wheel size.
In spite of its basic appearance, the light commercial truck has power windows and power door locks.
Hino XZU600L Ride & Handling
The adjustable steering wheel has power steering, which allows the driver to maneuver the truck with ease. The hydraulic clutch makes everything buttery smooth - whether you’re shifting gears, accelerating, or decelerating.
Rear-wheel stabilizers keep the rear end aligned when making turns. Shock absorbers on both the front and back minimize shaking even when the truck is carrying heavy loads.
XZU600L Engine & Fuel Consumption
Hino XZU600L has a massive 4.0L diesel engine that sends power to the front wheels. There are two available models: the XZU600LA with 6-speed automatic transmission, and the XZU600LM with 5-speed manual transmission.
The engine produces about 130 horsepower and 390 Nm of torque. It can reach top speeds of 125 kmph, which is both safe and fast for its size. According to Hino, their signature Euro 3 Standard “red engine” has low emissions and enhanced fuel efficiency.
Hino XZU600L Braking & Safety
The Hino 300 Series has a rigid cabin and side door beams that protect passengers in case of impact. Other passive safety features include the anti-lock braking system and 3-point seatbelts with pretensioners. Its exhaust brakes are powerful enough to fully stop the truck.
XZU600L Verdict
Hino XZU600L is the total package for small to medium-sized enterprises. It has a comfortable cabin, reliable performance, high fuel efficiency, and low maintenance costs. Best of all, it has a 5-ton load capacity that enables it to transport sizable cargo at significant distances.
