MANILA: Following an earlier announcement, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) has rolled out its “No Plate, No Travel” policy for tricycles in Quezon City.

According to LTO, it distributed some 3,000 license plates to address its backlog for tricycle license plates in Quezon City.In a previous report, the country’s land transport bureau noted that it was able to address some 3,000 backlogs in license plates for public transport tricycles in the city.
“With all the license plates already distributed to all tricycles being used in public transport in Quezon City, your LTO will presume that tricycles with no license plates but are being used in transporting passengers in Quezon City are colorum, or operating illegally,” LTO Assistant Secretary Attorney Vigor Mendoza II said in a previous press statement.
Further, the implementation of the said ordinance follows Republic Act No. 4136, Section 18 or the “Use of Number Plates,” which sets the rules for the proper use of license plates.
“Layunin nitong tiyakin ang kaligtasan at kaayusan sa kalsada sa pakikipagtulungan sa Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Quezon City (Its purpose is to ensure road safety and order in collaboration with the City Government of Quezon City).” the agency said in a Facebook post.
