15 Hyundai modern PUVs pulled into duty in Bacoor
MANILA: Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI) officially turned over 15 units of the HD50S Modern PUV Class 3 to the City of Bacoor, Cavite to be used as modern public utility vehicles (PUVs) in the area.
The turnover ceremony was graced by Bacoor City Mayor Lani Mercado-Revilla and Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Region IV Director Col. Renwick Rutaquio. The units were handed over by Hyundai Trucks and Buses (HTB) Alabang to Magnificat Transport Cooperative, an organization that promotes safe, efficient, and sustainable public transport system.
Mayor Revilla highlighted the importance of the government’s Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP) in the new normal. She is looking forward to the full support and cooperation of the public transport groups on this program.
In a statement, HTB President and CEO Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo said that the brand will keep its commitment in supporting the local government of Cavite in their transportation needs. She stated, “Our gathering today is proof of what can be achieved through our collective strength and commitment to uplift one another. Let us journey forward to progress.”
HTB Chief Operating Officer Maxwell Quillat expressed his gratitude to Magnificat Transport and the Bacoor for trusting them in the development of PUVs in the city. Quillat assured that the HTB Alabang dealership will team up with the cooperative for the after-sales service of the vehicles.
The Hyundai HD50S Modern PUV Class 3 is powered by a 2.9-liter Euro 4-compliant CRDi engine. The vehicle comes with various features such a roof-mounted air conditioning system, a Wi-Fi router, a GPS tracker, CCTV cameras, seven-inch monitor, and a speed limit warning buzzer. The PUV can accommodate up to 22 seated passengers. The vehicle uses an Auto Fare Collection System (AFCS) to prevent physical contact among passengers.
In 2020, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) awarded the HD50S Modern PUV Class 3 with a Certificate of Compliance as it meets the required standards for a public transportation. HTB also received COCs for the H-100 Modern PUV Class 1 and HD50S Modern PUV Class 2 in 2019.
Hyundai is expected to turn over more HD50S Modern PUV Class 3 units to Magnificat Transport within this year.
