MANILA: A total of 15 Isuzu Class 2 modern public utility vehicle units have been turned over to Metro Comet Transport Service Cooperative.

According to Centro Manufacturing Corporation (CMC), the vehicles (which features bodies that they manufactured) were delivered to the transport group were “designed to offer enhanced comfort, safety, and efficiency, ensuring a superior commuting experience for passengers. “

“These units are expected to serve the community effectively, contributing to the ongoing efforts to modernize the Philippines' public transportation infrastructure,” CMC said in a statement.

Leading the turnover ceremony at Ayala Mall Solenad in Nuvali, Sta. Rosa were Metro Comet Transport Service Cooperative Chairman Ed Comia, Isuzu Philippines Corporation Head of Sales Mario Ojales, Centro Manufacturing Corporation Assistant Sales Manager Lotis San Jose, Nueva Segovia Consortium of Cooperatives Chief Executive Officer Dr. Divine Quemi, and Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board Region-4A Director Radm. Loumer Bernabe.

"This turnover of 15 Isuzu Modern PUV units is a pivotal moment for Metro Comet. It underscores our commitment to providing modern, safe, and reliable public transportation for our community. We are dedicated to improving the commuting experience and supporting sustainable transport initiatives," Comia said

Meanwhile, Quemi highlighted the importance of collaboration in achieving transportation modernization. "The partnership between Metro Comet, Isuzu, and Centro Manufacturing Corporation exemplifies the power of cooperative efforts in driving progress and innovation in the public transportation sector."

On the other, Bernabe commended the initiative. “Metro Comet's proactive steps towards this goal are commendable, and we anticipate the positive impact these new units will have on our transportation system."

For his part, Ojales emphasized Isuzu's dedication to supporting the PUV modernization program.

"Isuzu is committed to providing high-quality and reliable vehicles that meet the evolving needs of our transport sector. We are proud to partner with Metro Comet in advancing public transportation in the Philippines."

Lastly, San Jose reaffirmed their support for Metro Comet's mission. "Centro supports Metro Comet in their mission to introduce more modern PUVs in the country. They are one of the best examples of a successful modern PUV program, and we are honored to be part of this initiative."
