Who are covered in the rebate program?
The program covers truckers carrying agricultural products. When will the rebate program start?
The initiative, which will be conducted in a span of three months, shall start in June 2024.To take effect starting June 1, the Agri-Trucks Toll Rebate Program will allow truckers transporting agricultural goods/products to receive toll rebates if they are accredited by the Department of Agriculture. It will be conducted in a span of three months — subject to evaluation for possible extension.
The aforementioned initiative will be carried by the by Metro Pacific Tollway Corporation and San Miguel Corporation in partnership with the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB), Department of Finance, Department of Transportation, and DA.
“This program aims to protect the welfare of the general public by minimizing the impact of toll rate increase on the overall inflationary situation to ensure the stability of food prices. The TRB, together with the different government agencies, acknowledges the toll expressway concessionaires and operators for their full support and cooperation as this will not be possible if they did not agree to implement this exemption,” TRB Executive Director, Atty. Alvin Carullo was quoted as saying.
To qualify in the exemption, agri-trucks need to secure accreditation from the agriculture department and should have a valid RFID account. Once they have the two, they should submit the requirements together with a copy of the vehicle’s official receipt/certificate of registration, valid identification card, Easytrip/Autosweep card, and a duly-accomplished toll fee increase exemption form.
Submitted documents will undergo a verification process within seven working days. Enrollees will be notified of their status via their respective email addresses.
Once approved, agri-truckers will enjoy a toll rebate that will be credited to their RFID accounts every Wednesday of the following week. As part of monitoring and to prevent abuse, spot checks will be conducted to ensure enrolled trucks are transporting agricultural goods/products. Non-compliance may result in disqualification from the program.
