Foton PH among top 10 best-selling brands in 2020

MANILA: Foton Motor Philippines, Inc. (FMPI) concluded 2020 with a notable achievement as it entered the prestigious ranks of the top 10 best-selling vehicle brands in the Philippines — the only Chinese brand in the country to have made it on the list. 

Despite the various obstacles posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and through meticulous shifting of marketing and business approaches, Foton PH recorded a total of 2,456 units sold in only 12 months. This is according to the report of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI). 

Topping its list of best-selling vehicles are the compact but functional Gratour models, which account for 15.88% of the auto brand’s total sales. 

Though sales in the second quarter of 2020 were impacted due to the community quarantine, Foton PH began to regain market sales during the third quarter as the demand for commercial vehicles (CVs) increased to meet the transportation needs for public service and relief operations in various areas. 

The Foton TransVan takes the number one spot, contributing 19.5% on the total light commercial vehicle (LCV) category sales. This enabled the TransVan to gain the title as the best-selling van of the brand for 2020. 

With a significant portion of the industry’s overall sales based on commercial vehicles, the Tornado Series accounted for 44.2% of the truck sales, earning the title as the third best-selling light-duty truck brand in the Philippines for the third consecutive year.

The Tornado Series is equipped with  multi-functional features, along with a variety of high-strength customizable bodies like the Crane Trucks, Dropside, F-Van, Multi-purpose Vehicle (MPV), and Ref-Van, allowing it to be an ideal mobility companion for a broad range of hauling, delivery, and transportation services.
