Foton Tornado Ref Vans ready to serve as vaccine transport
MANILA: Foton Motor Philippines, Inc. (FMPI) has introduced the new Tornado Ref Vans specially developed to serve as transportation of COVID-19 vaccine and other medical essentials.
The Foton Tornado Ref Vans use the latest technologies and components from world-known brands to swiftly transport the vaccine in its optimal condition to its intended recipients. The vehicle is motivated by a US-designed Cummins turbo-diesel engine and its insulation equipment is provided by Thermo King, the world’s leading transport refrigeration supplier.
Foton has launched two Tornado Ref Van models to meet the requirements of the essentials that need to be moved. The Foton Tornado M4.2C Ref Van comes with a refrigerated storage area that can go as low as -20 degrees Celsius, which is the recommended temperature for mobile refrigerated vans that transport temperature-sensitive medicines. The storage area can accommodate up to 4.2 tons of payload within its 14-foot long body.
The Tornado M4.2C Ref Van is powered by a Cummins 3.8-liter ISF Diesel Engine that delivers a maximum power output of 154hp at 2,600rpm and maximum torque of 500Nm at 1,200 to 1,900rpm.
For medical essentials that require a storage temperature as low as -18 degrees Celsius, Foton recommends the Tornado M2.6C Ref Van. It is powered by a Cummins 2.8-liter ISF diesel engine that generates a maximum power output of 129hp at 3,200rpm and a maximum torque of 310Nm at 1,300 to 3,200rpm.
The Tornado M2.6C Ref Van’s 12-foot long storage area has a payload capacity of 2.6 tons, which makes it spacious enough to safely transport thousands of vaccines in a single drive. Its storage area comes with a durable mechanical lock to assure that the cargo is properly placed and secured inside.
