Foton turns over 4 food trucks to PH Red Cross

MANILA: The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) recently acquired four units of Foton Tornado M4.2C Food Trucks to be used for its program to battle hunger among Filipinos amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a statement, PRC Navotas and Caloocan Chapter Administrator Roberto Dacles said, “Maraming kababayan natin ang maaring nawawalan ng trabaho so naisipan po ng ating National Headquarters, specially ni Chairman Gordon, itong mga food trucks natin para makatulong sa mga barangay, mga lugar na mahihirapan maka-access sa safe and nutritious food (Many of our countrymen have possibly lost their jobs so our National Headquarters, especially Chairman Gordon, decided to acquire food trucks to help some barangays and areas that have less access to safe and nutritious foods).”

Foton Quezon Avenue turned the food trucks to the PRC in Mandaluyong City. The food trucks feature a modern kitchen designed to fit food preparing necessities such as refrigerator, cooking stove, equipment storage, washing area, and stove hood.

“Isa po talaga sa problems namin is ‘yung transportation, kung papaano po namin ibababa sa community yung mga food at relief, at itong Foton Philippines po ay napakalaking tulong po sa atin kasi napapabilis po natin ang agarang tulong para sa mga naapektuhan ng pandemic (One of our problems is transportation—how we can transport food and relief to the communities. Foton Philippines is of great help to us because they helped fast-track the relief operations that we are doing for those who are affected by the pandemic),” Dacles added.

The Foton Tornado M4.2C Food Truck is powered by a Cummins engine that generates 154Nm from 1,200 to 1,900rpm. It has a 14-ft. body that can accommodate numerous kitchen essentials while still having the size to swiftly drive along the city streets, making it suitable for emergency response.

“Alam naman po natin na tayo ay archipelagic country kaya napakahalaga po sa atin ang transportasyon (We know that we are living in an archipelagic country that is why transportation is very important to us),” Dacles stated. “Ang partnership na ito ng Red Cross at Foton Philippines ay magbubunga ng maganda most especially pagdating sa pagtulong sa mga kababayan natin (This partnership between Red Cross and Foton Philippines will bring good results most especially in giving aid to our countrymen).”
