KEY TAKEAWAYS
Which company distributes the Mitsubishi eCanter in Taiwan?
The Mitsubishi eCanter’s distributor in Taiwan is Daimler Truck Asia Taiwan. What are the available Fuso Canter models in the Philippines?
The available Fuso Canter models in the Philippines include the FE73, FG83, FE71, FE85, and the FE84.The Fuso eCanter is based on the Canter series of commercial-grade trucks sold globally, including the Philippines.
However, instead of a turbodiesel engine, the eCanter uses an electric motor fed by a set of six 13.5-kilowatt-hour batteries. The result is a zero-emissions logistics solution for many of the businesses based in the country.
As of its debut in Taiwan, the all-electric truck is available as a five-ton or 8.55-ton model. Both versions may come in varied wheelbase lengths, as well as a variety of body types. All eCanter units also come standard high-tech safety systems including active brake assist, an acoustic vehicle alerting system, lane departure warning, and electronic stability control.
To note, the launch of the electric truck model in Taiwan follows a stringent 50,000-kilometer reliability test performed on the nation’s local road network. In addition to the local road test, the fully electric truck has also accumulated more than 12 million kilometers of travel on roads around the world since its first introduction in 2017.
“We tested the eCanter on hilly roads, on city roads with traffic jams, on regional roads, rough roads; we literally went from the north to the far south of Taiwan. There were sunny days, chilly days, rainy days, all kinds of conditions,” DTAT Chairperson Kristin Lin said.
To support the eCanter, DTAT CEO Jung Woo Park shared the company’s future goal of putting up several dedicated repair and maintenance service zones at seven locations across Taiwan. The said facilities will be manned by highly trained technicians who are ready to provide support to the owners of the fully electric truck.
In the Philippines, the Canter is sold as the FE73, FG83, FE71, FE85, and FE84. Hopefully in the future, the local market can get access to the emissions-free eCanter as well.
