Hyundai PH records 672.8% growth in YTD commercial vehicle sales
MANILA: Hyundai has emerged as the third top-selling commercial vehicle (CV) brand in the Philippines, with outstanding April year-to-date (YTD) sales figures in the truck and bus segments.
The CV industry has recorded a 72% sales increase, moving a total of 3,720 trucks and buses. Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI) has sold at total of 711 units, contributing a market share of 19.1%. It also marked a 672.8% increase versus its sales performance in the same period last year.
Category III, Category IV-A, and Category V truck segments comprised 94% of the total sales, contributing market shares of 58%, 24%, and 12%, respectively. HARI also took the third spot in this segment with 18.1% market share and sales of 658 units, which translated to a whopping growth rate of 1,780%. The HD36L Maxculado, HD65 and HD65X, and Xcient trucks have competitively made their mark in Category III, Category IV-A, and Category V, respectively.
Although the bus segment was challenged by travel restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Category IV-A buses were able to register 89% share of sales. HARI has sold a total of 52 units, contributing a market share of 76.5%. This was led by the County which now has a strong 43-unit lead over the competition.
HARI continues to support Filipino entrepreneurs by offering a quality and reliable fleet of trucks and buses to help move the economy and provide safe and comfortable modes of transport. From 2017 to April 2021, HARI recorded total sales of 2,912 units despite of the major setbacks that were encountered when the pandemic hit in 2020.
In a statement, HARI President and Chief Executive Officer Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo said, “We welcome this new achievement of Hyundai Trucks and Buses in the Philippines as a big win, not only for us at HARI and our dealer network, but even more inspiringly, this is a triumphant milestone for Filipino entrepreneurs, because of their boldness to keep on going by partnering with brands like Hyundai to help move the economy for the better in every way possible.”
