Hyundai turns over 120 modern jeepneys to Bacoor City cooperative

MANILA: Last December 15, Hyundai Trucks and Buses Alabang delivered the first batch of 120 units of the Hyundai HD50S Class 2 Modern Jeepney to Gardenia Kapit-Bisig, a top multi-purpose cooperative of Bacoor City, Cavite.

Gardenia Kapit-Bisig has a wide membership involved in the businesses of travel and tours, water refilling, and transport in CALABARZON and Metro Manila. Public utility vehicle (PUV) modernization is said to be the main program of the cooperative.

Bacoor Mayor Lani Mercado-Revilla and Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Region IV Director Col. Renwick Rutaquio attended the turnover ceremony.

Mayor Revilla explained that the prevalence of modern jeepneys in Bacoor indicates progress in the initiatives of the local government towards the transformation of Bacoor into a smart city.

While Col. Rutaquio announced that Region IV is doing its best toward promoting PUV modernization, Mayor Revilla went on a test ride of one of the units that were handed over and noted that these vehicles will offer commuters a safer, cooler, and more comfortable alternative.

Hyundai Alabang COO Maxwell Quilat gave an assurance to the group in offering not just excellent products, but also superior maintenance service at the dealerships of the brand in Silang, Cavite, Las Piñas, and Alabang in Muntinlupa.

The availability of more Hyundai HD50S Class 2 Modern Jeepneys in Cavite is projected to provide much-needed support to the transport industry.

The HD50S Modern Jeepney is powered by a 2.9-liter Euro 4-compliant CRDi engine, which brings cleaner emissions, dependability, and better fuel efficiency. It has been built for improved power-to-weight ratio and stability as it flaunts a 3,415-millimeter wheelbase.

The vehicle is also fitted with features such as a speed limiter, seven-inch monitor, CCTV cameras, GPS tracking, WiFi, AFCS (automated fare collection system), and roof-mounted air-conditioning.

It also has ample seating for 22 passengers and can accommodate a maximum of 10 standing commuters. It also comes with individualized seating and plastic dividers to guarantee that social distancing is maintained for the riding public.

Last year, together with the Hyundai H-100 Class 1 Modern Jeepney, the Hyundai Class 2 Modern Jeepney acquired the Certificate of Compliance (COC) from the Department of Transportation (DOTr).

This year, a COC was also given to the Hyundai HD50S Class 3, which makes the Hyundai the sole player as well as the pioneer in the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP) of the Philippines, having a complete range of modern jeepneys that comply with the Philippine National Standards (PNS).

With Hyundai Asia Resources Inc. (HARI) CV Sales Head Monch Osorio as the representative, Hyundai Trucks and Buses President Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo was able to express her wishes to the newest “partner in every way” of the company.

She associated the turnover of modern jeepneys to the traditional exchange of gifts during Christmas — from Gardenia Kapit-bisig to Hyundai, “the gift of trust and support,” and from Hyundai to Kapit-Bisig, “the gift of safe, reliable, and comfortable mobility.”
