Isuzu N-Series Smoother boasts innovative 'automated manual' transmission
MANILA: Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) officially launched its latest truck model, the Isuzu N-Series Smoother, last Friday, October 15.
The Isuzu N-Series Smoother is IPC’s first light-duty truck equipped with automated manual transmission (AMT) technology, an innovative intelligent gearshift system.
The Isuzu N-Series Smoother operates without the clutch pedal and achieves automatic shift change through computer control. This allows the driver to achieve the performance of a manual transmission on a two-pedal operation. In other words, the Isuzu N-Series Smoother combines the ease of operation of an automatic transmission with the fuel efficiency of a manual transmission.
In a statement, IPC President Hajime Koso said, “Being the number- one truck brand in the country, Isuzu’s success comes from working closely with our customers, assessing their every need, and coming up with the best business solutions in every step of the way. In the Philippines, trucks are maximized and utilized almost at 24/7 operations. And with the increasing demand for delivery, especially in logistics, truckers deal not just with the increase in their operation expenses, particularly fuel and maintenance, but also the need for more professional drivers which has become quite a problem. So, we thought, why not make our next truck address all these challenges and more?”
The Isuzu N-Series Smoother claims to give a smoother business operation and driving experience with these three core benefits:
The Isuzu N-Series Smoother is not complicated to operate. Its transmission is similar to that of an automatic transmission and has two pedals only. Inexperienced drivers can drive this truck with ease. With the AMT technology, drivers will be less fatigued when driving long distances or in traffic congested areas.
Isuzu N-Series Smoother uses advanced AMT technology to automatically select and shift to the appropriate gear position. This results in good fuel efficiency, which helps reduce fuel expenses. Because the truck does not have a clutch pedal, there is also no need to spend money on clutch maintenance.
With the truck’s two-pedal operation, the driver does not have to worry about shifting gears, allowing him or her to concentrate on the road ahead.
The Isuzu N-Series Smoother is powered by a 3.0-liter, four-cylinder, turbo-intercooler, DOHC common-rail direct injection, Blue Power diesel engine that churns out a maximum power output of 124ps and a maximum torque of 354Nm. The engine is mated to Isuzu’s latest transmission model, MYY6S, which is a six-speed AMT. The truck has a gross vehicle weight of 4,990 kg and can be fitted with various body applications.
To further upgrade the truck's driving experience, the Isuzu N-Series Smoother also comes with added features such as tuner ratio with USB, two speakers, charger port, cab power window, central door lock, and cab tilt warning system. Every purchase also comes with a three-year and unlimited mileage warranty.
The Isuzu N-Series Smoother is now available in all Isuzu dealerships nationwide. For pricing and further details, log on to isuzuphil.com, visit any Isuzu dealership, or send a message to the company's official Facebook pages.
