Isuzu, UD Trucks to hold joint exhibit at Japan Mobility Show 2023

MANILA: Isuzu Motors Limited and UD Trucks Corporation will be having a joint exhibit at the Japan Mobility Show 2023.

The exhibit will highlight the two companies’ vision of a “mobility society in the future”. The product display will be categorized into three groups: Innovation for Earth, Innovation for Society, and Innovation for Life.

Innovation for Earth

This category will feature the products that help the Isuzu Group achieve its goal of eliminating the emissions of greenhouse gasses throughout the lifecycle of its products and business operations by 2050.

The following are the products that will be presented under this category:

• Giga Fuel Cell: This fuel cell-powered heavy-duty truck was developed by Isuzu in collaboration with Honda Motor Company. The Giga heavy-duty truck was built by Isuzu, while the fuel cell system for the powertrain was created by Honda. The production model will be launched by Isuzu in 2027.
• ELF EV: This is Isuzu’s first mass-produced battery electric vehicle (BEV). It uses the same platform as the core lineup of diesel vehicles, allowing customers to switch to BEVs without sacrificing the convenience of diesel vehicles. Isuzu will gradually introduce the ELF EV to markets outside of Japan.

Innovation for Society

This category will showcase the products that represent the Isuzu Group’s commitment to accelerate the future of the logistics industry.

The products under this category are:

• ELFmio: This light-duty truck can be driven with a standard Japanese driver’s license, addressing the persistent driver shortages in Japan due to an aging workforce. Its handling is similar to a passenger car, making it easy for any driver, regardless of age or experience, to operate.
• Quon GW 6x4: This heavy-duty truck sets a new standard for hauling heavy loads while being fuel-efficient. The next-generation 12-speed electronically controlled ESCOT-VII automatic transmission and UD Active Steering enable excellent performance.
• Quester GWE 6x4: This heavy-duty truck complies with the European Union’s Euro 5 emission standards. Its UD Selective Catalytic Reduction system minimizes harmful emissions created during combustion.

Isuzu Group will also be showcasing the autonomous driving technology that it is developing to help improve road safety.

Innovation for Life

This category will feature two new prototypes that will make their world premiere at the event. These prototypes embody the Isuzu Group’s commitment to providing a “better life with better transport through innovation.”

The Japan Mobility Show 2023 will happen on October 28 to November 5 at Tokyo Big Sight.
