KEY TAKEAWAYS
When will IVECO launch the eMoovy all-electric commercial vehicle?
Hyundai and IVECO will launch the eMoovy all-electric commercial vehicle at the upcoming 2024 IAA Transportation event scheduled for September 17-22, 2024.What vehicle is the IVECO eMoovy based on?
The IVECO eMoovy is based on the Hyundai Staria.According to Hyundai, the model is known as the “eMoovy” and it will debut at the said event with an IVECO badge. It is, however, underpinned by the Staria minivan, so it carries a similar-looking front end and front window shape.
Its rear end, on the other hand, is more like the locally available H-100, which is able to take a variety of body styles to meet different logistics needs.
For its powertrain, the Seoul-based car company shared that it utilizes an 800-volt system, which can provide a maximum range of 320 kilometers (km) per full charge. The aforementioned power system also has ultra-fast charging capability, which allows it to add 100 km of range in just 10 minutes.
Additionally, the eMoovy received a smart battery management system (BMS) similar to the one currently fitted on the Korean marque’s Ioniq electric vehicle (EV) lineup. Thanks to the said BMS, sensors are able to read battery information, which is crucial for preventing malfunctions.
Furthermore, the upcoming commercial-grade EV model boasts an array of advanced driver-assist systems such as lane departure prevention, parking distance warning, and forward collision assist.
Per Hyundai Motor Company Executive Vice President and Head of Global Commercial Vehicle and Hydrogen Business Ken Ramirez, the eMoovy is a testament to Hyundai and IVECO’s dedication to working towards sustainable mobility.
“This innovative vehicle showcases Hyundai and Iveco’s shared commitment towards a carbon-neutral future. By leveraging Hyundai’s pioneering global eLCV platform, we aim to advance EV mobility technology with IVECO’s European expertise to position eMoovy as the leading transport platform that can transform the market,” Ramirez said.
To note, the partnership between Hyundai and IVECO was established back in 2022. Previously, the two entities rolled out the hydrogen-powered E-Way H2 at the Busworld Trade Show 2023.
For now, Hyundai has revealed no other specs for the commercial model. Still, we can expect more details when it debuts at the 2024 IAA Transporation, which will be held in Hannover, Germany, until September 22, 2024.
In the context of the local market, Hyundai Motor Philippines’ lineup of EV models includes the Ioniq 5, 5N, and 6. However, would you want to see the eMoovy in the local market in the future?
