NLEX Opens More Weighbridge Stations for Truckers

MANILA: NLEX Corporation has installed additional weighbridge stations for truckers traveling along NLEX, SCTEX, and NLEX Connector to assist them in adhering to the government's anti-overloading policy, which seeks to increase motorist safety and prevent early deterioration of roads due to overloading.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Where are the new weighbridge stations located?

The new weighbridge stations are located in SCTEX Porac, Pampanga and Concepcion, Tarlac. All trucks may now also use the privately owned weighbridge at the ACB Truck Scale Services in Dinalupihan, Bataan.
  • How much is the fee for those who will use ACB's weighbridge?

Truckers who will use ACB's weighbridge must pay a fee of around P400 to P600, depending on the truck type.
  • The Republic Act No. 8794, also known as “An Act Imposing a Motor Vehicle Users Charge on Owners of All Types of Motor Vehicle and for Other Purposes,” which prohibits overloading, is strictly implemented by NLEX Corporation.

Furthermore, the tollway company is observing the 33-ton weight limit on the Candaba Viaduct southbound, as supported by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Department of Transportation (DOTr).

The new weighbridge stations are situated in SCTEX Porac, Pampanga and Concepcion, Tarlac.

All trucks may now also use the privately owned weighbridge at the ACB Truck Scale Services in Dinalupihan, Bataan, which is open from Monday through Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Truckers who will use ACB's weighbridge must pay a fee of around P400 to P600, depending on the truck type.

For even more convenience and safety, NLEX plans to build more stations in the upcoming months. These locations will be in NLEX Marilao, Mindanao, and Karuhatan, as well as SCTEX Floridablanca and Dinalupihan.

In addition to these, there are 12 existing locations along the entire stretch of NLEX and four satellite locations in partnership with private companies. These private stations include the following:

    • TAG Metal Weighbridge in Ninoy Aquino Highway, Barangay Sta. Maria, Mabalacat, Pampanga
    • Clark Development Corporation (CDC) Weighbridge in Clark Freeport, Mabalacat, Pampanga
    • Subic Bay International Terminal Corporation (SBITC) Weighbridge in San Bernardino Road, Subic Port District, Subic Bay Freeport Zone, Zambales
    • Mega Subic Terminal Services, Inc. (MSTSI) weighbridge in NSD Compound, Subic Bay Freeport Zone, Zambales

According to NLEX Corporation, having these weighbridge stations will help in reducing overloading incidents, which pose a risk to motorist safety because an increased load can affect the driver's ability to control the vehicle.

Additionally, this will prevent further road damage and improve the smooth transportation of cargo.

In an effort to facilitate the daily operations of various companies while enhancing road safety, NLEX Corporation collaborated with business industry players to establish weighbridge stations closer to their respective locations in 2022.

The 33-ton weight limit on the southbound Candaba Viaduct was also implemented after tests revealed that heavy loads are continuously putting a lot of strain on the structure.

Since 2005, NLEX Corporation has implemented road safety programs and initiatives, in line with its aim to improve customer experience and offer safer and more enjoyable journeys.

NLEX Corporation is a subsidiary of the Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), the toll road arm of the Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC).
