Pangasinan LGU receives Hyundai modern PUJs to boost public transport

MANILA: Hyundai Asia Resources, Incorporated (HARI), the official distributor of Hyundai buses and trucks in the country, took the initiative to support the bid of the government toward public transport modernization through the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP).

HARI, in collaboration with the Hyundai Trucks and Buses Cabanatuan dealer center, recently provided 10 units of its Class 2 HD50S Modern Public Utility Vehicles (PUVs) to the Tayug Pangasinan Transport Cooperative (TAPTRANSCO), one of the newest transport groups in the area as response to the transport modernization projects of their local government unit (LGU).

The event was seen as a milestone for the Department of Transportation (DOTr), the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), the TAPTRANSCO, and their local government in their joint initiative to reinforce the PUVMP.

Local transport groups and government officials attended the event to show their support for the PUVMP, which is targeted at improving the well-being and livelihood of the commuters, drivers, and the entire community.

Pangasinan Municipal Mayor Carlos Trece R. Mapili acknowledged the transport cooperative for being the first to make the modern PUVs available in eastern Pangasinan.

TAPTRANSCO Director Manuelito B. De Vera expressed his gratitude to those who helped the community in achieving their dreams to have a cooperative in their livelihood that coincides with the fulfillment and realization of the transportation sector.

As a response, Hyundai Trucks and Buses Cabanatuan President  Dennis San Juan gave an assurance that their dealership will do its best to make sure that the Hyundai Modern PUVs are road-worthy through proactive after-sales service.

HARI Commercial Vehicle (CV) Fleet Sales Head Pamela Dacanay, the representative of HARI CEO and President Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo, considered the entry of the Hyundai Modern PUVS in the province of Pangasinan an indication of progress.

She said, “The long wait is over.  Narito na po ang ating sama-samang arangkada sa pagbabago, katuwang ang TAPTRANSCO at ang bayan ng Pangasinan (Together, we journey toward change, in partnership with TAPTRANSCO and Pangasinan).”

A video message from the Office of Transportation Cooperatives Executive Director II Eugene M. Pabualan highlighted the support of the Pangasinan government on the PUVMP for the redefinition of the transportation system, not only for the benefit of the transport commuters and groups, but also for the country’s improvement.

LTFRB RFRO1 Transportation Development Officer Atty. Anabel Marzan Nuilar concluded the event by showing strong support for the PUVMP as well as transport cooperatives such as the TAPTRANSCO that aid in developing modern mobility towards the advancement of community growth.

Pangasinan expects that the Hyundai HD50S Modern PUV Class 2 will aid in connecting commuters to more opportunities that will set the stage for economic growth and recovery amid the challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Hyundai HD50S Modern PUV Class 2 is equipped with a 2.9-liter Euro 4-compliant CRDi engine, which offers cleaner emissions, greater fuel efficiency, and dependability. It is engineered for improved power-to-weight ratio and stability, as it also takes pride in a 3,415-millimeter wheelbase.

The vehicle also includes a speed limit warning buzzer for safety purposes, a seven-inch monitor, CCTV cameras, GPS tracker, Wi-Fi module/router, and roof-mounted air conditioning.

It can seat up to 22 passengers and a maximum of 10 standing commuters. It is also fitted with the requisite contactless payment through Auto Fare Collection System (AFCS) along with plastic dividers to maintain social distancing for the public.

In 2019, the Hyundai HD50S Modern PUV Class 2, along with the Hyundai H-100 Class 1 Modern PUV, acquired the Certificate of Compliance (CoC) from the DOTr.

Last year, the Hyundai HD50S Class 3 also received a CoC. This completed the auto brand’s "power trio" of Modern PUVs under the PUVMP in compliance with the Philippine National Standards (PNS).
