Piaggio to produce electric Porter models in partnership with Foton

MANILA: Piaggio Group and Foton Motor Group forged a partnership for the joint development of electrically powered Porter vehicles.

This partnership will further widen Piaggio’s portfolio of commercial vehicles with two new four-wheel electric models that are designed for intra-city transportation. These vehicles have compact dimensions and a payload capacity of at least one ton.

The new electric Porter models will be produced at Piaggio’s plant in Pontedera, Italy. They will be officially launched by the end of 2024 in key markets in Europe.

Cutting-edge cyber security solutions and active and passive vehicle safety systems, including advanced driver assistance systems, are standard on these electrified commercial vehicles.

Piaggio and Foton have previously worked together in the development of the Porter NP6 city truck in 2021. This bi-fuel model with compact dimensions and exceptional capacity has been well-received in the European market.
