MANILA: Honda will soon treat the Philippines auto market with the 10th generation Honda Civic. Implying that the 9th generation Civic that is currently serving our market will soon disappear in papers. Like all the previous generation Civic’s, the 9th one too created a reputed place for itself in the market, competing with the likes of Toyota Vios and Chevrolet Cruze. Also, the all-new Civic on its arrival is expected to perform on the same lines as its predecessor.
2016 Civic arrival is more than certain as Honda Philippines is now and again caught speaking about the same. Thus, revealing information about the new Civic in bits and pieces. Also, a leaked brochure image was recently posted online revealing 2016 Honda Civic price.
Below we have compared the old and new Civic, pointing out some major additions made in the later by Honda.
Exterior Silhouette -
In looks both the old and new Civic are way apart from one another. Be it new Civic’s front, side or rear profile, each part is tweaked only for good. Some major known changes are-
- Single plated chrome grille over the previous honeycomb design
- Added contour lines on the hood
- Honda Signature LED headlamps, LED Daytime Running Lights and LED taillamps, accompanied by more defined fog lamp case,

Interior of new Civic has received many upgradations over its previous generation model. To the long list of added features like-
- A full-color Multi-Information Display over Advanced Single In-Dash with CD/MP3 (1.8 S MT/AT)
- No pop-out Information Binnacle, instead now it has an advanced Driver Information Interface
- Electrostatic Steering Wheel Controls, Remote Engine Start Function, Auto Climate Control, & Smart Key with Walk-away Autolock feature
Trim Time -
9th generation Civic was offered with six trims while as per the known info, the new Civic will be offered in only two trims.
- Old Civic trims consisted of 1.8 S MT, 1.8 S AT, 1.8 E AT, 1.8 E AT Modulo, 2.0 EL AT and 2.0 EL AT MUGEN. With Modulo and MUGEN coming with some major exterior and interior changes
- New Civic on the other hand, will be available in 1.8E and RS Turbo variants
Engine Change -
The current Civic is offered in two engine options, 1.8L and 2.0L, both non-turbo. But Civic 2016 will come powered either by a 1.8L or Honda's first ever turbo mill.
- As per Honda Philippines, the new engine will effortlessly churn out 172 PS of maximum power along with 220 Nm of peak torque
- Also, 5-speed manual/automatic transmission will now be replaced by CVT developed under Honda's Dreams Technology
Safety Kit -
Like all the other aspects, all-new Honda Civic has also advanced on the safety front. Though Honda Philippines is numb about the added features, but taking clues from its U.S spec it is expected to come stuffed with

The car that earlier carried a starting price tag of PhP 958,000 is now expected to be available at not less than PhP 1.1 million, with Civic RS trim going as high as PhP 1.3 million.
