2020 Mitsubishi Montero Sport: Variants explained
There is no doubt that the Mitsubishi Montero Sport has gained popularity over the years given its sporty stance, dependable driving performance, and affordability for its segment.
The Monty has received some minor glow up for its 2020 model but the Japanese automaker Mitsubishi still made sure that it will not compromise its well-loved prowess on all terrains.
Most of the changes can be seen on front fascia where you may notice that the additional pair of lightings are somewhat similar to the Mitsubishi Xpander and Strada. From the more prominent triple-slat grille, daytime running lights, and updated front bumper, it is very clear that the Dynamic Shield design theme for Montero Sport was thoroughly refreshed.
Still equipped with 2422 cc 4N15 2.4-liter inline-four 16 valve Clean Diesel engine, both GLS and GT variants’ engines still comes with Variable Geometry Turbo (VGT) and the exclusive Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control or MIVEC. Its engine promises a maximum power of 181 PS at 3500 revs per minute and maximum torque of 430 Nm at 2500 rpm whilst its top speed is gauged at 180 kilometers per hour. All the technology that is packed to Monty’s engine is said to return optimum performance, remarkable fuel economy, and reliability on thoroughfares or even in floodwaters.
All the variants of the Mitsubishi Montero Sport shift gears through an 8-Speed Automatic transmission with Sports Mode that lets driving enthusiasts use the magnesium alloy paddle shifters as a manual override.
As for the dimensions, there is no much difference between the available variants. The 2020 model is still 4,785 mm long, 1,815 mm wide, and 1,805 mm tall. With a wading depth of 70 cm and 218 mm ground clearance, cruising through floodwaters or bumps is a piece of cake.
