The Changan CS55 Plus entered the local market with a slick-looking exterior in order to stand out against its local competitors such as the Ford Territory and Hyundai Tucson. 

Its front end is especially eye-catching, thanks to the impactful design of its “light and shadow touch” front grille. It also comes with sharp-looking LED fixtures, an elegant side profile, and a sporty rear end. 

On top of its stylish looks, the Changan model also boasts a peppy 1.5-liter mill paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. At maximum, the said powertrain can generate up to 185 horsepower and 300 Newton-meters of torque. 

All of the aforementioned sounds well and good, but what is the interior of the Changan CS55 Plus offering to its prospective buyers? Let us find out here.

Rich in driving features

In line with its peppy performance, the CS55 Plus comes equipped with a lot of driving-related features. 

For starters, the one piloting the vehicle has access to a leather-wrapped steering column with four-way adjustability - a leg up against many of its rivals, which mostly offer only tilt and telescopic columns. 

Additionally, getting inside and starting the vehicle is easier thanks to its remote starting system, keyless entry, and push-to-start button. Finding one’s preferred position is also a breeze due to the model’s six-way power-adjust driver’s seat. 

A leather-wrapped shifter and a soft front cabin center armrest provide additional comfort for the driver. Plus, the crossover also comes with a voice-control feature, which will help to avoid distracted driving. 

Particularly for hectic in-city driving and parking, users of the CS55 Plus can also depend on the following features:

Plentiful in tech and safety

The interior of the Changan CS55 Plus features two sizable digital displays. 

The mid-spec Hype and the top-spec Luxe both get a 12.3-inch infotainment display linked to a six-piece Pioneer Premium speaker set. Both trims also have Apple CarPlay, Mirror Link smartphone connectivity software, and a six-piece Pioneer Premium speaker set. 

Both the Hype and Luxe also get a 10-inch fully digital gauge cluster with adjustable backlight brightness. All trims have a decent number of USB ports, but only the top-spec Luxe was provided with wireless smartphone charging. 

As one would expect from a modern crossover, the Changan five-seater model gets a comprehensive safety kit. On higher-spec trims, however, the said safety bits are reinforced by several advanced driver-assist features listed below: 

• Adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go
• Lane departure warning
• Lane keep assist
• Forward collision warning
• Traffic jam assist
• Autonomous emergency braking with car and pedestrian detection

Comfort for everyone

All five occupants of the Changan CS55 Plus are treated to a relaxing ride by the model’s wide selection of comfort-oriented features. 

Everyone inside the car is kept cool and fresh by a filtered automatic climate control system with rear vents. It also boasts wide and roomy seats wrapped in leather, as well as a panoramic sunroof (Hype and Luxe) for good vibes during short or long trips. 

Additionally, the model’s trunk can hold up to 475 liters of cargo with the rear seats up. The said amount of room is more than enough for a week’s worth of groceries. Otherwise, its trunk space can be expanded further thanks to the vehicle’s 60:40 split-folding rear seat. 

Speaking of the rear seat, it also has a folding center armrest with its own pair of cup holders. Plus, the rear cabin has access to two USB ports positioned near the model’s rear air-conditioning vents.

Overall, the Changan CS55 Plus offers a good amount of onboard features despite its relatively accessible price. For reference, its price ranges from P1.179 million-P1.31 million. 

Serious would-be buyers of the Changan-made crossover, however, should give it a test drive first. Sure, reading off specs online can be helpful for initial research, but getting some real seat time on the car you want will make for a better buying decision in the end.
