Both models are well-equipped, but one is slightly peppier
The Lynk & Co 06 has entered the Philippine market as a strong contender in the subcompact crossover market segment.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
What is the price range of the Philippine-spec Lynk & Co 06?
The Philippine-spec Lynk & Co 06’s price ranges from P1.299 million-P1.598 million. What are the locally available variants of the Lynk & Co 06?
The locally available variants of the Lynk & Co 06 are the Hyper Core, Hyper Pro, and the top-spec Hyper Halo.In a nutshell, the model was provided with a stylish exterior combined with a plush cabin, loads of onboard tech, and a relatively peppy powertrain. With the said kind of qualities, many might be eyeing the 06 for their next big car purchase.
On the other hand, the Lynk & Co five-seater model belongs to a highly competitive segment with many popular rivals, such as the Honda HR-V.
So, the question now is, how does the Lynk & Co 06 Hyper Halo compare against the Honda HR-V RS in terms of specs? Let’s find out to guide prospective buyers.
Tale of the Tape
In terms of size, the 06 Hyper Halo is 4,340-millimeters (mm) long, 1,820-mm wide, and 1,625-mm in height. Its wheelbase spans 2,640-mm, and it also has a ground clearance of 213-mm.
The HR-V RS, meanwhile, is 4,385-mm long, 1,790-mm wide, and 1,590-mm in height. Its wheelbase is also 2,610-mm long, and it has 181-mm of ground clearance.
Per the measurements mentioned above, the Lynk & Co model is slightly shorter but wider than the HR-V. The 06 also has a more generous amount of ground clearance, which is crucial for dealing with rough terrain, potholes, and road bumps.
For car buyers, taking note of a vehicle’s size may provide clues on how spacious it is from the inside. It may also help determine if a particular model fits in one’s garage or not.
Exterior
On the outside, the Lynk & Co 06 sports a hyper-modern but slick design enhanced by the brand’s “Aurora Borealis” LED daytime running lamps, “Energy Cube” LED taillights, and its grille-integrated LED headlamp clusters.
Other notable features found on the exterior of the 06 include rain-sensing wipers, power-folding side mirrors, roof rails, a power tailgate, a panoramic sunroof, as well as front and rear fog lamps.
On the other hand, the Honda crossover model also gets a contemporary look, but it leans more towards being sporty. A case in point is the HR-V’s black exterior pieces, as well as the presence of Honda’s sharp-looking “RS design” front and rear bumpers.
Similarly, the HR-V RS also gets rain-sensing wipers, power-folding side mirrors, and fog lamps. The Honda model, however, does not get a sunroof, and it lacks a power tailgate.
Other key features found on both crossovers are dual-tip exhaust setups, side plastic claddings, a roof-mounted rear spoiler, and automatic headlamp functionality.
Completing the look of the 06 Hyper Halo is a set of 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels. The HR-V RS, meanwhile, rides on a set of 18-inch RS design gray alloy wheels.
Interior
Inside the 06 and the HR0V are attractive but minimalistic cockpits, which will no doubt appeal to the modern car buyer. Both also come with an abundance of soft-touch surfaces, leather upholstery, automatic climate systems, and plenty of storage bins.
For the two model’s drivers, available is a push-to-start button, a drive mode selector, electronic parking brakes, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, power-adjustable seating, a tilt and telescopic multifunction steering wheel, and a front cabin center armrest.
Additionally, the two crossovers likewise come with split-folding rear seats, rear USB ports, and rear air-conditioning vents.
Concerning tech, the two get a wealth of digital screens. Still, the 12.3-inch infotainment display and 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster present on the 06 are markedly larger than the eight-inch infotainment and seven-inch digital gauge screens on the Honda model.
However, both do have wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for seamless smartphone connectivity. On the two crossover, users can also do away with cables entirely due to the presence of a wireless smartphone charging pad.
Sound output inside the cabin of the HR-V may be better thanks to its eight-piece speaker system. The Lynk & Co five-seater crossover, on the other hand, gets a six-piece set.
Safety
Handling safety for the two crossovers is an array of standard features. Notable examples of the aforementioned include anti-lock braking, stability control, traction control, dual front airbags, side airbags, curtain airbags, and ISOFIX child seat anchors, among others. The 06, however, adds to those with its anti-rollover protection system.
The two rides also come with advanced driver-assist systems, including adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring (Lane Watch for HR-V), automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams, and lane departure warning.
Available to the HR-V is a lead car departure warning system, which is not present on the Lynk & Co model. On the flip side, the Chinese-made model comes with a rear collision warning, which isn’t present on the HR-V.
Powertrain
Propelling the Lynk & Co 06 is a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-4 gasoline engine capable of producing up to 178 horsepower (hp) and 290 Newton-meters of torque. Power is sent to its front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
Comparatively, the Honda HR-V RS uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-4 gasoline mill paired with a continuously variable transmission. At maximum, the Honda model can churn out 174 hp and 240 Nm of torque.
According to the figures above, the 06 has slightly more oomph compared to the HR-V. Nevertheless, both get paddle shifters, front, and rear disc brakes and a McPherson strut front suspension.
The rear suspension system of the 06, though, is a multi-link type, whereas the one on the HR-V is an axle-type suspension.
Price
Pricing for the Philippine-spec Lynk & Co 06 is set at P1.299 million for the entry-level Hyper Core, P1.488 million for the Hyper Pro, and P1.598 million for the top-of-the-line Hyper Halo.
The Honda HR-V, meanwhile, starts at P1.389 million for the S variants. The HR-V V Turbo, meanwhile, retails at P1.649 million, while the top-spec HR-V RS has a sticker price of P1.739 million.
Final thoughts
In a nutshell, both crossovers come with fully decked-out interiors and highly appealing exteriors. The 06, however, is slightly more powerful compared to the HR-V, but the difference in output is negligible.
Price-wise, though, the Lynk & Co 06’s top-spec Hyper Halo might be attractive to more prospective buyers. It is, after all, P140,000 cheaper than the Honda model’s RS trim.
Regardless of the comparison above, we urge folks who are serious about getting either of the two crossovers to give them a test drive first, as it can result in a more informed purchase.
