Higher class: The 2021 Toyota Fortuner’s Q and LTD variants
The Q trim is one of the latest additions to the Fortuner stable. It is the second- highest trim after the LTD and it comes with a host of great equipment and features.
It is one of only two trims that use the higher output engine 1GD-FTV straight-four common rail diesel engine of Toyota that has a 2.8-liter displacement and comes with a variable nozzle turbocharger (VNT), chain drive, and intercooler.
Power output of 201hp and 500Nm of torque is sent to the front wheels via a six-speed AT (automatic transmission).
On top of what the V trim has, this Toyota comes with bi-beam-LED and black door belt molding with chrome accents, leather seats, eight-way power-adjustable driver’s and passenger’s seat, LED room lamps and front and rear door courtesy lamps, Eco and Sport drive mode (instead of Power), and a power back door.
The Q also introduces the Fortuner to the Toyota Safety Sense, which is a suite of driver assistance systems that make the drive safer for all vehicle occupants. These are Pre-Collision System (uses an integrated camera and radar system to help reduce the likelihood of colliding with a preceding car or pedestrian), Lane Departure Alert (uses a camera on the windshield to help avoid the consequences of unintended lane departure by alerting the driver when it senses that the vehicle has veered from its lane), Adaptive Cruise Control (uses radar plus a camera to adjust and help maintain a preset distance from the car in front). This is on top of all the safety features found on the V trim.
Body colors of the Q trim include Sparkling Black Pearl Crystal Shine, Attitude Black Mica, Gray Metallic, Silver Metallic, and White Pearl Crystal Shine.
The Toyota Fortuner 2.8 4x2 Q AT in Attitude Black is priced at P1.998 million while the Toyota Fortuner 2.8 4x2 Q AT in White Pearl Crystal Shine goes for P2.013 million.
Last but not the least is the other new Fortuner trim, the top-of-the-line LTD.
It has the same engine as the Q trim but sends all that power to either a 4x2 (front-wheel drive) or 4x4 drive layout via a six-speed AT.
Exclusive to the LTD is an auto disconnect differential, a differential lock, 265/60 R18 tires on 18-inch alloy wheels with machine cut finish, split-type LED headlamps, sequential LED front turn signal lamps, sequential LED rear combination lamps, blacked-out outside rearview mirrors, a mesh-type and blacked-out front grille, and a blacked-out back door garnish.
Its cabin also carries some fine and exclusive features like leather seats with maroon accents, front seat ventilation system, and a leather steering wheel with galaxy black trim, and a nine-speaker JBL sound system. This, of course, comes on top of all the cabin amenities found on the Q trim.
Instead of three 12V accessory outlets, the LTD trim only has two.
Like the Q trim, is has all the standard safety features of the Fortuner including Toyota Safety Sense, plus Downhill Assist Control.
The LTD’s body comes in two exclusive dual colors, Silver Metallic / Attitude Black Mica and White Pearl Crystal Shine / Attitude Black Mica.
Price starts at P2.244 million with the Toyota Fortuner 2.8 4x2 LTD AT in Silver Metallic / Attitude Black followed by the Toyota Fortuner 2.8 4x2 LTD AT in White Pearl / Attitude Black that goes for P2.254 million.
The 4x4 units start at P2.404 million with the Toyota Fortuner 2.8 4x4 LTD AT in Silver Metallic/ Attitude Black followed by the Toyota Fortuner 2.8 4x4 LTD AT in White Pearl/ Attitude Black priced at P2.414 million.
