Is Veloster Turbo really Worth Your Money???
MANILA: Upon getting the green signal to bring its GDi technology in the country, Hyundai didn't waste even a single moment and revealed its trump card, Veloster Turbo at the MIAS 2016. This orange turbocharger was centre-staged at the Hyundai's booth at the show and for now, this will be the only variant to offer in the country.
Hyundai Philippines seems to know the pulse of the Filipino common car buyer as after years of teasing, this high-performance hatch is now finally in Hyundai showrooms across the country. And though, every Filipino was waiting for this unique Veloster with the bated breath yet everyone is mulling over one thing- Is the new Veloster Turbo actually worth our money????
Although, everyone has their personal choices and unique tastes, we have still tried to ease you out of your dilemma.
Hooting Power
Its GDi technology and twin-scroll turbo is just what the Veloster required to be a truly hot hatch. The new Veloster Turbo is a real hoot with its 1.6-litre packing a serious turbo power of 204 PS. Aligned as a sports car by Hyundai, this turbo packs 65 Nm more torque than the 2.0-litre Toyota 86. Icing on the cake is this impressive power doesn't penalize its fuel-efficiency. So hands down, if you want a hot sports hatch with a great power and torque, go for the Veloster Turbo.
GDi over MPi
We only have an option of MPi powertrain drives in our country till the starting of this year and this has become somewhat monotonous, especially for those wanting a great adrenaline rush in the form of speed and power. And with Government's recent announcement of Euro-4 emission level, many automakers will take some time to come out with the compatible technology. Here's a good news, Filipinos doesn't have to look anywhere else as true to its reputation and name, Hyundai already has the Veloster up its sleeves.
Three-door Configuration and funky look
It's Unusual if you park your Veloster, and don't have spectators coming in awe and take a selfie with this unique piece of hatch. Positioned in a sports car line and have the power of a coupe, the Veloster is bestowed with one additional door at the rear making it unique from a coupe. Overloaded with curves and with alien-eyed headlights as well as bazooka tailpipes and raked contour lines, Veloster looks like it won't work, but it sure as hell does. So, if you are someone who goes for something distinctive on roads, then this beast is definitely for you.
Save on Money
The South Korean brand has priced its precious gem at an enticing PhP 1.548 million which is quite high for a hatch. But we can't mistaken the Veloster as a hatch, it is a sports hatch: perfect blend of a sports coupe and hot hatch into one. The Turbo variant is PhP 88,000 cheaper than its perfect rival Toyota 86 and also you get to save PhP 132,000 if you fancy this over Mazda MX-5, both 86 and MX-5 being powerful sports cars.
So, if you are up for a small car that's loaded with style and won't cost a fortune, then this new sports hatch should be on your buying list and its Turbo power has the potential to back up its price.
