Exterior
Like most vehicles built in the early 2000s, the third-generation Kia Sorento had a mix of rounded and sharp design elements.
At its fore are angular headlamps, daytime running lights, and front fog lamps, flanking its large tiger-nose grille. It also dons a skid plate, which adds to its character. Other notable exterior features of the old Kia Sorento include chrome door garnishes, chrome door handles, rear combination lamps, and wheels that measure either 17 or 18 inches.
Meanwhile, the new-generation Kia Sorento boasts larger dimensions with a more angular look. It wears sleek headlamps paired with an imposing grille with large openings for better cooling. It also gets a silver skid plate to match its new face.
To its side are chrome beltline moldings, chrome door handles, a silver roof rack, a roof-mounted spoiler, a high-mount stop lamp, two combination taillamps, and a power tailgate.
Interior
The cabin of both crossovers sing to the same tune as the older Kia Sorento comes with a leather steering wheel, a leather shift knob, and seats that come in the same leather hide.
In addition, it also gets a standard instrument cluster as well as a seven-inch infotainment system with Bluetooth and hands-free connectivity.
The new Kia Sorento gets similar leather interior appointments, which can be found on its steering wheel, shift boot, and seats. It also gets an instrument panel with a 4.2-inch digital screen as well as an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Additional features come in the form of a dual-zone automatic air conditioning system, a wireless phone charger, and a smart entry unit with a remote lock.
Engine
The old Kia Sorento was powered by a 2.2-liter engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission with Shiftronic. It produced 197 horsepower with 441 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque.
In the same way, the new Kia Sorento packs a 2.2-liter powerplant mated to a Smartstream eight-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission. Power figures are at 199 horses and 441Nm of torque.
Safety
In terms of safety, the old Kia Sorento gets a host of airbags and seatbelts, a rear camera, parking distance sensors, cruise control, an anti-lock brake system, electronic stability control, brake assist, vehicle stability management, hill-start assist, and an anti-theft system.
Meanwhile, the new Kia Sorento gets all that plus blind spot detection, lane-keeping assist, forward collision avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and trailer stability assist.

The fourth-generation Kia Sorento is offered in two variants: EX and SX. They are priced at P2.448 million and P2.638 million, respectively.
