The Seltos gets black body cladding that makes the car look aggressive. Currently, the Kia Seltos is available in two powertrains. The entry-level model is equipped with a turbocharged, four-cylinder, 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 113PS/144Nm. The motor is paired with Kia’s Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT). The cabin gets high-quality upholstery, soft-touch materials, and gloss black accents. The dashboard gets a textured look. The price of the Kia Seltos starts at ₱1.198 million.

How many variants are there in the Kia Seltos?

There are three variants primarily in the lineup of Kia Seltos in the Philippines – LX AT, EX AT and SX AT. While the LX AT and EX AT are available with a naturally-aspirated petrol engine and CVT, the range-topping SX AT is exclusively offered with a turbocharged petrol engine and a dual-clutch automatic transmission.

How much is the price of the Kia Seltos in the Philippines?

The prices for Kia Seltos in the Philippines start at PHP 1,198,000 for the LX AT variant, which goes up to PHP 1,288,000 for the EX AT variant and PHP 1,688,000 for the SX AT variant.

Which is the most value-for-money variant of the Kia Seltos?

While all the variants of the Kia Seltos are priced justifiably, we believe that the top-spec SX AT variant is the one to place your bet on. While it carries a significant premium over the mid-spec EX AT variant, the SX AT proves its worthiness with a range of feel-good, new-age features that give it an edge over the other compact SUVs of its segment.

What features does the Kia Seltos get?

The Kia Seltos is one of the best-equipped compact SUVs in its category, with some of them being new to the segment to which it belongs. The base-spec LX AT variant gets halogen projectors, standard DRLs and a matte black grille with silver moulding, which are replaced by LED headlamps and DRLs and glossy black and silver moulding for the grille in the EX AT and SX AT variants. The top-spec SX At variant also gets a panoramic sunroof, diamond-cut alloy wheels, LED tail lamps, roof rails and chrome garnish for the outside door handles and window beltline.

All the variants of the Kia Seltos come with a fully digital instrument console, tilt and telescopic adjustable multi-functional steering wheel with audio and Bluetooth controls, electrically adjustable outside rearview mirrors, four speakers, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and electronic parking brake. The LX AT and EX AT variants get an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, single-zone automatic climate control, and manual driver seat height adjustment.

Meanwhile, the EX AT and SX AT variants get cruise control, electrically foldable rearview mirrors, smart entry for remote keyless entry and push start-stop button, with the SX AT getting more equipment with leather upholstery, LED cabin lights, wireless charger, powered driver seat, ventilated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, two additional tweeters, and a multi-colour sound mood lamp.

How spacious is it?

With a 2,630mm wheelbase, the Kia Seltos is one of the most spacious compact SUVs with significant room for five people. For additional space and comfort, all the variants of the Kia Seltos feature 60:40 split rear seats with a recline function.

What engine and transmission options are available?

There are two engine and transmission combinations across the Kia Seltos variant lineup in the Philippines. The base-spec LX AT and mid-spec EX AT variants are powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine. Paired with a CVT, this engine claims 115 PS of maximum power and 144 Nm of maximum torque. Meanwhile, the 1.4-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine offered in the top-spec SX AT variant is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and delivers 140 PS of maximum power and 242 Nm of maximum torque.

What’s the mileage of the Kia Seltos?

While Kia Philippines hasn’t revealed the official fuel efficiency figures for the Seltos, these same powertrain combinations have claimed efficiency figures stated by Kia India for the Seltos. While the LX AT and EX AT variants with naturally-aspirated petrol engines deliver 16.8 kmpl, the SX AT with the turbo-petrol engine returns 16.5 kmpl efficiency figures.

How safe is the Kia Seltos?

The standard safety features offered in all the variants of Kia Seltos in the Philippines are dual front airbags, ABS, electronic stability control, hill start assist, reverse camera, and ISOFIX mounts for child seats. The top-spec SX AT variant further raises the equipment level with additional safety features like adaptive cruise control with stop and go, lane keeping assist, lane following assist, forward collision avoidance assist, high beam assist, driver attention warning, and reverse parking sensors, all of which are a part of DRIVE WISE driver assistance suite.

How many colour options are there?

There are four colour options available across the Kia Seltos lineup in the Philippines. The LX AT and EX AT variants are offered with Snow White Pearl and Gravity Grey colours, with the EX AT variant also offered with Pluton Blue colour. The top-spec SX AT variant can be had either with Pluton Blue or Snow White Pearl with black roof colours.

Should you buy the 2024 Kia Seltos?

The Kia Seltos was already one of the most stylish and practical compact SUVs, and with this new facelifted update, the Seltos has only become flashier and more appealing to the eyes. It looks and feels like a much more expensive SUV, especially on the inside, which does give it an edge over other compact SUVs, and hence justifies the premium pricing it commands.

What are my alternatives?

The Kia Seltos exists in one of the most competitive vehicle segments in the Philippines, that of compact SUVs, which also has other options like Hyundai Creta, Mitsubishi XForce, Honda HR-V, Ford Territory, Mazda CX-3, Chevrolet Tracker, MG ZS, Nissan Kicks E-Power, Toyota Yaris Cross, Mazda CX-3, Volkswagen T-Cross, Jeep Compass and Peugeot 2008.

Other things to consider

One of the most accomplished SUVs in the current times, the Kia Seltos is also a bit on the expensive side, thanks to the array of modern features. However, if you can compromise a bit with size and space on the inside, the smaller Kia Sonet is also a worthy option, which shares many of the features and the 1.5-litre petrol engine with the Seltos at a relatively lower price point.

The Kia Seltos facelift version comes with a series of exterior enhancements that strengthens its visual appeal and road presence. The Kia Seltos, from the sides, looks largely consistent with the previous model. It maintains its well-balanced proportions. Notable updates include new 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels that introduce a sharper design, contributing to a sportier stance. The door cladding now features body-colored inserts.

Significant transformation has been carried out at the back. The Kia Seltos now boasts of an all-new taillight cluster connected by an illuminated strip, aligning it with Kia's global design language. The tailgate has been redesigned for smoother curves, moving away from the previously sculpted look. The rear bumper has been updated with thicker cladding and functional dual-exhaust tips in the higher models reinforce the vehicle's sporty appeal. But the rear-end may appear over-styled to some.

The car is available in Snow White Pearl, Pluton Blue, Aurora Black Pearl, and Gravity Gray colour options.

Pros and cons

Pros: Distinctive front fascia

Cons: Overstyled front end

Kia Seltos Mileage Running Cost

The 1.5-litre powertrain achieves approximately 21kmpl fuel economy when cruising at an average speed of 90kmph. It returns around 14kmpl under light traffic conditions. The 1.4-litre powertrain is a more dynamic option and offers a balance between performance and efficiency. It returns a city mileage of approximately 10kmpl, while highway efficiency ranges between 17 to 18kmpl.

Pros and cons

Pros: Efficient powertrain

Cons: Some rivals offer better highway mileage

Seltos Ride & Handling

The suspension of the Kia Seltos is tuned slightly on the firmer side. It benefits handling and body control, but can make low-speed rides over rough roads a bit jarring. The damping does a good job of soaking up mild to moderate bumps, but sharper potholes and broken roads tend to send more shock into the cabin than ideal. At low speeds, the car feels composed. On highways, the ride quality improves noticeably. The car feels stable and planted, with minimal floaty feel.

Handling is one of the stronger points of Seltos. The electric power steering is light at low speeds. It’s great for city driving. But it lacks feedback during enthusiastic driving. The car feels confident in corners with limited body roll. The firmer suspension helps it stay composed.

Pros: Sharp and confident handling

Cons: Firm low-speed ride

Kia Seltos Engine & Fuel Consumption

The Kia Seltos gets two powertrain options. The entry-level LX and EX are equipped with a naturally-aspirated, four-cylinder, 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 113 PS/145 Nm. The motor is mated to a Kia's Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT). The combination provides smooth acceleration and commendable fuel efficiency. The top-level model is equipped with a turbocharged, four-cylinder, 1.4-litre petrol engine that produces 140 PS/242 Nm. The motor is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) that facilitates rapid gear shifts. However, some drivers have noted that the DCT can exhibit slight hesitation during low-speed maneuvers or on inclines. Drivers get Smart, Eco, Comfort, Sport, and Custom driving modes, allowing them to adapt to various driving conditions.

Pros and cons

Pros: Refined powertrain

Cons: Lack of certain features in base models

Seltos Braking & Safety

The Kia Seltos comes with a 360-degree camera system that practically eliminates all blind spots. Cameras mounted on the outside mirrors project live footage of the car's blind spots onto the instrument cluster when the turn signals are activated. The compact SUV gets a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) comprising 17 features that enhances driving convenience and safety. The Kia Connect’s optional navigation system supports voice commands that promote hands-free operation and minimizes distractions.

The Kia Seltos also gets six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC) and vehicle stability management (VSM), hill-start control a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and an emergency stop signal.

Pros and cons

Pros: Comprehensive safety system

Cons: Some features are excluded from the base model

Kia Seltos Verdict

Competitor Comparison

The Toyota Rush is a close competitor of Kia Seltos. The latter sports a more modern design, a refined 1.5-litre engine, and a tech-rich interior, ideal for urban drivers seeking comfort and style. In contrast, the Toyota Rush features a rugged seven-seater setup, making it practical for families and rougher roads. While the Kia Seltos compact SUV boasts of better ride quality and premium features, the Toyota Rush stands out for its affordability, higher ground clearance, and the Japanese manufacturer’s reliability. The Kia Seltos suits solo professionals or small families, while the Rush appeals to larger households needing space and utility on a budget.

Conclusion and Final Verdict

The Kia Seltos impresses with its bold styling, tech-savvy interior, and solid performance. It strikes a fine balance between practicality and personality, making it a standout in the compact SUV segment. For buyers seeking value, versatility, and flair, the Kia Seltos delivers a well-rounded package that exceeds expectations.
