Mercedes-Benz S-Class: Ultra-luxe meets ultra-smart
The seventh-generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class has finally arrived in the country. The luxury sedan’s latest innovations make it more in tune with the driver, the passengers, and even those who are near its presence.
The S-Class has always exuded “timeless elegance and sophistication.” The newest iteration features a longer bonnet, shorter overhangs, and longer wheelbase with flowing C-pillar and proportioned rear overhang. The long wheelbase and AMG Design line help emphasize the expressive character of the sedan. The car’s front section is also notable with the gleaming star standing above the radiator grille.
The new S-Class also features innovative digital light headlamps with a “three-dot design.” Each headlamp produces one million pixels, therefore, optimal illumination is ensured for every driving situation.
Since comfort is an absolute priority in the new S-Class, the cabin is designed to be ultimately enjoyed by every passenger. Rear-seat occupants can recline the electric seats, extend the leg rest, and experience a relaxing massage. According to Mercedes-Benz, riding in the new S-Class feels like flying first-class as it comes with spacious, comfortable, and adjustable executive seats.
Rear occupants can also enjoy the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) through the high-end rear entertainment system and two fully integrated 11.6-inch touch displays. The cabin is also equipped with a Burmester 3D surround sound system with 15 speakers and a total system output of 710 watts.
The MBUX rear tablet on the armrest allows the passengers to watch movies or browse the Internet at the comfort of their own seats. The cabin is also equipped with a refrigerated compartment to keep drinks chilled even on long rides.
Driving the new S-Class is also made hassle-free as it comes with a host of driver assistance systems, including active distance assist, active lane keeping assist, active brake, assist, and active parking assist.
Under the sedan’s hood is a three-liter, in-line six cylinder engine that generates 435hp and 520Nm of torque. It is mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission that can be controlled through the Direct Select gear lever located near the steering wheel.
The new S-Class is also equipped with an intelligent rear seat airbag to ensure that the passengers are highly protected in the event of a collision. It also comes with a range of innovative safety and assistance systems that help avoid risky situations on the road.
