Pricing for the all-new Honda CR-V ranges from P2.1 million to P2.59 million.Just recently, Honda Cars Philippines Incorporated launched the newest generation of the CR-V with upgrades in terms of design, technology, and fuel efficiency.
Let’s take a look at these upgrades and see how much better the all-new Honda CR-V is versus its previous generation model.
Exterior
The old Honda CR-V features a bold and sophisticated appearance that grabs attention on the road. The streamlined body lines gives it a sporty yet elegant look. The well-proportioned dimensions provided ample space for passengers and cargo, making it ideal for both city driving and weekend getaways.
On the other hand, the all-new CR-V features a bolder front grille and sleeker LED headlights that give it a strong and modern presence. The daytime running lights are now placed above the headlights, unlike the ones on the previous model which are placed under.
The all-new CR-V is also longer and wider than its predecessor, giving a more aggressive look and more space inside.
Features such as roof rails and alloy wheels added to the overall sporty and rugged appeal of the old Honda CR-V, that is probably why these are carried over to the new model.
Interior
Inside, the old Honda CR-V provided a comfortable and well-designed cabin. High-quality materials and thoughtful ergonomics added to the overall premium feel. The practicality was enhanced with versatile seating configurations and ample storage spaces.
The same goes for the all-new Honda CR-V, however, the infotainment system now features a floating design. Honda Smart Key Card Entry is also standard on the VX Turbo and e:HEV RS variants.
The top-of-the-line e:HEV RS variant also comes with exclusive interior features such as head-up display and Bose premium audio system with 12 speakers.
Powertrain
The old Honda CR-V came with either a 2.0-liter gasoline engine that produces 152 horsepower (hp) or a 1.6-liter diesel engine that delivers 118hp.
The powertrain options are now entirely different for the all-new CR-V as it is now available with the e:HEV technology, which combines a 2.0-liter engine with two electric motors. The engine produces up to 148hp, while the motors can deliver up to 184hp.
The internal combustion engine variants of the all-new CR-V are powered by a 1.5-liter gasoline engine that churns out as much as 188hp.
Easier handling is also provided by the all-new CR-V as vehicle path changes more smoothly along with steering operation, and the speed accelerates sufficiently without delay when the accelerator pedal is depressed.
Safety and tech features
In the old Honda CR-V, only the higher variants are equipped with Honda Sensing driver-assistive technology, which included adaptive cruise control, low speed follow, collision mitigation braking system, lane keep assist system, road departure mitigation system, forward collision warning, and lane departure warning.
For the all-new Honda CR-V, all variants come standard with the latest version of Honda Sensing that has a new front sensor camera and radar system.
The field of view of the new camera is 40 degrees wider than the previous version. The radar mounted behind the Honda logo on the grille, on the other hand, has a 70-degree-wider field of view than the previous model.
Adaptive driving beam, an intelligent LED headlight that helps enhance visibility as well as adjusts the height of the light beam to avoid dazzling the car in front and pedestrians, is also added on the e:HEV RS variant.
Another technological innovation in the all-new CR-V is Honda Connect, which uses smart telematics technology to give users a seamless connection with their vehicles through a smartphone app. This will allow owners to use their smartphones to communicate with their vehicle, monitor its status, and even receive alerts.
Verdict
The all-new Honda CR-V is hands down better than its predecessor. With a bolder look, updated technology, and more efficient performance, this SUV boasts an impressive array of features that will surely make it a top contender in its class.
